Shall I tell you what I like about Flanker and in general Chinese aviation?

It's the fact that they don't stop progressing, the country which stops innovating falls behind, they need to continue to upgrade and develop the platforms, it's no good building a world class fighter and leaving it at that, as soon as production starts the next generation is on paper, this continues and ensures the drive for optimisation and improvement so you don't fall behind

J11D is a good example and it's not like J11B is a bad fighter, good work and good improvements on the J11B

Certainly J11D is a step ahead and they are always looking to improve and develop, a similar strategy is employed by the Americans

Totally agree Asif, but it would need huge of $$$$ and not many countries have the resources (money and technology) .. perhaps only very few, less than 5.

Also buying from foreigners (e.g. like India is doing) is not the right thing to do as you simply can't upgrade the aircrafts .. you would need to ask the foreign countries to do that for you and definitely its not cheap

Stayed at my aunt's home in Quzhou yesterday. Su-30s from the PLAAF airforce base were passing overhead once every 10-15 minutes from 10:00AM till 6:00PM. The novelty wore off a lot sooner than I thought it would. After 1:00PM the noise -- loud enough to set off car alarms -- was driving me nuts. Sometimes the Su-30s flew as low as 600-800 feet and the whole building shook during the passby.

The 29th Regiment stationed in Quzhou has proximity to both Diaoyu Islands and Taiwan. Given the strategic significance, it is no surprise that they exercise so often.

The only problem is he might get himself and his aunt in trouble for conspiring to "spying" on Chinese military secret for America. He have to to be extra careful with any information related to sensitive information like military jets because he is Chinese American visiting China. Sad to say this, but same thing could be said in America as Chinese American the other way around too.

Come on, if the Chinese were so circumspect about showing their MKKs (which aren't even frontline fighters) they wouldn't have flown them over civilian areas.

As for the inverse, I was able to photograph F-22s at Hawaii without a problem.
