Why do You think 2015 might not be at Chengdu ??

Well, if the Chinese BBS post you have posed over at CDF was correct, then it did say 2015 was doing ground testing in an airport South-West of China on 17th Dec, one day before its reported maiden flight on 18th Dec. That to me indicates Chengdu.

Wow, so they really skipped 2014, I am disappointed by this superstitious nonsense. I've read in a Chinese post that there was no 1014 for J-10 either, was this true?

If they are truly superstitious, they would wait until the year 2015 to have the maiden flight for their new prototype because Chinese superstition places huge emphasis on what day of the month and what year you should start something. They actually have a special calendar, called yellow calendar, for that (my in-laws have one in their home and my mother-in-law would not step out of the door without checking the calendar). Let's face it. If they had any doubt about the significance of the number 4, all they had to do was to wait another 2 weeks to fly the plane so that they could avoid testing the plane in 2014. That should be so easy to do and no one would even question the timing since we are now all so surprised that they test flow #2015 so soon after the #2013. So there is no doubt in my mind that there is no superstition in their equation when they decided on the numbering and #2014 exists and is being tested somewhere.

Some folks on certain Indian forum claim this is the picture of 2015 in flight . No way to verify that

Chinese are becoming experts in aircraft design and manufacturing of modern fighter aircraft and they move fast

Very big year for J20 this 2014 has been

So far we have had

2011 flys 1st March 2014
2012 flys 26th of July 2014
2013 flys 29th November 2014
And 2015 flys by the looks of it 19th December 2014

I believe there is a 2014 most likely they are using it for static testing

That means 4 prototypes have flown this years generating tons and tons of data and plenty to analyse for system design and improve the current set up

This also means there is now 7 x J-20 sitting around with 6 which have been identified 2001 and 2004, plus 2011-2013 and 2015

Imagine in the next few days 2014 emerges! Lol

And this one, supposedly same airplane few days ago in taxi test ... Again no confirmation .

To admit this is IMO simply the same image we found yesterday with the original markings + a few more areas blurred out ! ... but not a new or different image.

I believe that the first batch might enter service in 2015.
Okay, let's review again.

The first J-20, #2001, first flew January 11th of 2011. The second one, #2002, first flew on May 29th of 2012 I beleive.

Now, here in 2014, we have had the third, #2011 fly March 1st, the fourth, #2012 fly July 26th, and now the fifth, #2013, fly November 29th...now we see what is apparently #2015 in December! That's four this year.

If that is 2015, then I'm about ready to start calling this LRIP.
