2014 World Cup Pictures: GO!

The Germans might be too cocky after the 7-1 victory over Brazil whereas the Argentinians had a hard-won victory against the Dutch. I think I'll root for Argentina on Sunday.

Actually there's an interview with Hummels(defenceman) and he said after the first half when they are inside the change room they agreed not to humiliate Brazil, but to just focus on their own game and play properly. He said to take it easy is also very disrespectful to Brazil, so they didn't do that.

And after the entire game, the Germans shared a message on their Facebook "thanking Brazilians for the affection they've shown during the World Cup and sympathizing with the pain that comes from losing a semi-final of the FIFA World Cup at home."

And then last night I also read an article where their coach Loew is telling his team to stay humble.

Where I work now is permeated with about 90% women.. there has never been any sports pool here in my three years working here. Most of the women here don't even follow the NFL.. A few do follow University of Iowa football.. and I'm sure most don't even know what the World Cup is..

Talking about women vs football (association football, of course), it recall me something in the University. One day I was walking pass a group of female students discussing about something. I didn't hear nor did I pay attention to what they were talking about when suddenly one student shouted "The ball is round, dude!" (of course they spoke Khmer). "The ball is round" is a technical term among football fans, and only football fans would use this term. Those ladies were real fans!

I think that there are more women futbol fans than football fans.

While Germany was 5-0 up against Brazil within 30 minutes and subsequently able to rest key players, Argentina were taken all the way to extra-time and a penalty shoot-out against Holland. Their match was also played 24 hours earlier, with manager Alejandra Sabella describing some of his players as “sore, beaten, tired, the result of a war”. He said that a full list “of the casualties” would be available today. “Germany are always a very difficult hurdle to overcome,” said Sabella.

Elated but bruised: Argentina celebrate reaching their first World Cup final since 1990 Photo: GETTY IMAGES

The Germans have always shown physical might, tactical powers and mental force. The Germans have the better goalkeeper, the better defense, the better midfield, and in the white-hot Thomas Muller, a player nearly as dominant as Lionel Messi. So how do you pick against them? Toss in the fact that Argentina has serious injury concerns and it's playing with one less day's rest, and no amount of Messi magic can change Sunday's outcome. I predict that it will be an ugly and hard fought game with the final score 2-0 in favor of Germany.

Though I also look good on Germany, however, I have feeling that Argentina will win this world cup. And the match between Brazil vs Netherlands today, though most people look good on Brazil, I think the host team will "stay at home" with empty hands!

Brazil is again humiliated this time by Dutch (3-0). Their nightmare refuses to stop as they lost to a team whose coach considers third place match being pointless.

Few thoughts on the 3rd place match:

1) Brazilian defense was again terrible.
2) David Luiz sucked.
3) Oscar tried really hard, hate to see him not scoring any goal.
4) Robben should compete in 100m at summer Olympics.
5) David Luiz sucked.

I've followed Brazil and this World Cup so closely on my ipad on my iPhone and on TV it's been good but not Brazil

I agree why did they bring David Luis back on today?? Against Germany he was just standing looking at the goals no defence what so ever, no marking no defence no movement very very poor defence they conceded 12 goals in this World Cup the highest ever

2 consecutive losses on home soil since 1940 and 2 back to back losses in a World Cup since 1974

This doesn't make for good reading or watching they really need to launch a enquiry on how and why they performed so badly

Check this lol "I'm glad PSD haven't found my receipt" lol

Great! Association Football is not a game of a single bravo. It's a team game! That's how Sir Alex Ferguson has led Manchester United though without many world class stars, yet, Man U was still one of the best football club in the world. Now, without Ferguson, Man U starts free falling. Sad...

Like my prediction (post #105), Brazil lost the game. Here is another prediction though the percentage of correctness is much lower, Argentina will win the cup. Let's see it tonight! (The game is played at 3:00am Monday time in Cambodia).
