Yes, the gun on the Haikou is the 100mm gun.

But the picture I posted (and which you showed) is not that gun. That gun is the PJ26 76mm giun on the Type 054A Frigate.

The Type 201 (on the Type 052C DDG) is a Chinese license built version of the French modèle 100 TR 100mm naval gun (which is the same weapon used on the La Fayette frigates).

The PLAN modified it to make it compatible with Chinese electronic systems, and to enable it to fire Chinese laser and infrared guided munitons.

Here's a good pic of it on the Type 052C DDG:

Actually I think that's the 76 mm on the 054 not the 100 mm on the 052.
You are exactly right.

I thought he was talking about the gun on the Haikou, which is the Type 201 100-mm...but he showed the pic from the Frigate and that is the PJ26 76mm. I'll revise my comments accordingly because I am definitely talking about the gun on the Type 052C...which is the picture I showed.

BTW, fellows, that's U.S. Vice Adm. Kenneth Floyd, commander of the U.S. Third Fleet, who is also the commander of RIMPAC-2014, getting the tour of the PLAN Type 054A Frigate, in those pictures I posted today.

Speaking of these Soviet trawlers. Were they fast enough to keep up with a carrier? Did they ever try to pick up trash tossed from the US carriers (to glean intelligence)?

Jeff is correct.. I'll answer your query by PM..

Jeff what is the difference between the brown and white uniforms and what decides which one is worn on occasions?

There are three men in the USN's Service Khaki uniform. The (3 star) Vice Adm. Kenneth Floyd in the center there is a Two star Adm. ( Rear Adm.) behind the Chinese officer in the (your) right of the photo and the Lt. on the far left of the photo in the back of the photo there is a USN officer in his Whites Aka "the Good humor man" visible behind Adm. Floyd over his right Shoulder ( I cant see the whole Rank My guess it a Commander.
Now both uniform sets are actually appropriate. Summer whites and Khaki are both in issue and seasonally the preferred uniform by mandate of command.
According to the USN's Own uniform guidance page
Summer Whites is for:
Occasions For Wear
Worn in Summer for office work, watch-
standing, liberty, or business ashore
when prescribed as uniform of the day.
Service Khaki is entering service as a attempt to issue a more cost effective uniform. Khaki does not spot or stain as easily.
Service Khaki is for:
Occasions For Wear
Worn in Summer/Winter for office work, watchstanding, liberty, or business ashore when prescribed as uniform of the day.
In essence the Khaki tan uniform is meant to be the Navy's Jack of all trades uniform. A uniform for just about every occasion that is not black or White Tie. the USN's business suit.
This is the memo form the CNC on the matter.

AMPN/REF A IS U.S. NAVY UNIFORM REGULATIONS//

RMKS/1. THIS NAVADMIN ADDRESSES THE SERVICE DRESS KHAKI (SDK) INITIATIVE.
THIS INITIATIVE WAS INSTITUTED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO AS ONE MEANS TO FIND AN
AFFORDABLE, OPTIONAL LIGHT WEIGHT DRESS UNIFORM FOR WEAR IN WARM
WEATHER/SUMMER MONTHS WHERE A COAT AND TIE (UNIFORM) IS DEEMED MORE
APPROPRIATE THAN SUMMER WHITE AND/OR SERVICE DRESS WHITE UNIFORMS.

2. A COMPREHENSIVE UNIFORM ASSESSMENT, EVALUATING OPTIONS FOR A SDK UNIFORM,
IS COMPLETE. IT INCLUDED EVALUATION OF: (1) PROBABLE QUANTITIES OF SDK SETS
ORDERED/SOLD, (2) WEAR TEST OF SEVERAL MODELS EVALUATING QUALITY, DURABILITY,
APPEARANCE AND FIT, AND (3) ESTIMATED COST PER UNIFORM SET TO THE INDIVIDUAL.
ULTIMATELY IT WAS DETERMINED THAT A NEW SET OF LIGHT WEIGHT SDKS, OF
ACCEPTABLE QUALITY, ORDERED IN THE PROJECTED NUMBERS FROM THE ASSESSMENT,
WOULD BE TOO EXPENSIVE TO THE CUSTOMER. ACCORDINGLY, THE DECISION HAS BEEN
MADE TO TERMINATE PURSUING THE SDK UNIFORM AS AN OPTIONAL UNIFORM.

3. HOWEVER, FOR E7 THROUGH O10 PERSONNEL, THE SDB UNIFORM IS A SUITABLE
ALTERNATIVE FOR WEAR IN LIEU OF SUMMER WHITE AND SERVICE DRESS WHITE UNIFORMS
WHEN A COAT AND TIE IS APPROPRIATE. PER REF A, SDB UNIFORMS MAY BE PRESCRIBED
FOR WEAR YEAR-ROUND TO ALL OFFICIAL FUNCTIONS (WHEN FORMAL DRESS, DINNER
DRESS, OR FULL DRESS UNIFORMS ARE NOT PRESCRIBED) AND CIVILIAN EQUIVALENT
DRESS IS COAT AND TIE.
THE SDB UNIFORM IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE IN A QUALITY LIGHT WEIGHT FABRIC.

4. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING LIGHT WEIGHT SDB FABRIC AND ORDER
OPTIONS, AS WELL AS AVAILABILITY, WILL BE PROVIDED SEPCOR.

No scrambled eggs on his visor, so he must be Lt. Commander or Lieutenant.

thanks to all who answered my FAQ :) now, can you give me some link(s) describing current Chinese Naval Artillery (possibly including CIWS), could even be in Chinese if there were picture around the text -- maybe I could match them; or is everything on this (I mean max. range, rate of fire etc.) classified??
