The majority of these photos are not about the Chinese navy. Should we move this thread to the World Armed Forces forum?

No...it is about China's 1st invite and participation. All of this goes with that.

As we get into the at-sea portion, there are going to be a LOT of PLAN photos...and we may even see some from the in-port portions (as we saw earlier today with the conference pictures) where we could see crews from Chinese vessels playing sports against crews from other nations.

So, we'll keep it here for now.

The Netherlands, France and the UK are also not in the Pacific...but they have interests there...some possessions, others the needs for the Sea Lanes to remain open for resources. So they are invited too, like India.
The Netherlands lost its last possession in the area half a century ago. This is now Irian Jaya, part of Indonesia. And The Netherlands might have the largest port in Europe, Rotterdam, but the Danish shipowner Maersk is very much larger than any Dutch shipowner. So is Denmark represented?

Absoulutely Jeff. The in harbour phase is a great oportunity for personel from different countries to get to know each other a little better. It's also a time for dignatries and diplomats from different countries to socialise in a more relaxed manner than they might otherwise be able to do.

Denmark has sent observers only.

Here's the official list of participants.
As I indicated a couple of weeks ago, the US leads with 29 vessels...and that's the way RIMPAC always has been and always will be.

The second most numerous are Canada and China. Each of those nations are participating with four vessels.

Then you have the Republic of Korea with three vessels.

Usually Japan sends three, but this year they have two...though one of them is their Ise carrier, DDH-172.

Several other nations have one or two vessels involved.

Of the total of 55 veessels particpating, the top four countries (the US, China, Canada and South Korea) are proviing 40 of them.
