I think you mean that if it can be fitted to a JIANGHU, it can be fitted pretty much everywhere.

You are no doubt referring to the HHQ-10 installed in front of the bridge on JIANGHU I 519, which is now attached to the PLAN Test Base at Huludao, just next to Bohai Shipyard, and homeport of test ships 891 and 892.

Re previous discussion on the lack of naval bases in Bohai, Huludao is in fact one, small certainly, but of great interest to foreign powers as this is where PLAN's new weapons and sensors are tested.

Anything New?
New paint job and the new pennant number.

Looks like some new domes, perhaps some of the arrangement over the hanger deck.

I had hoped to see an FN-3000L forward and perhaps a Type 730 CIWS aft, but they are not there.

For that to happen, you will frist have to 167 go into deep refit, like 112 and 113 at Shenjia, Shanghai, and Jiaonan, respectively, for about a year each.

I feel quite sure that they will keep the HQ-7, as they did on 112-113.

Oh, I realize this and agree with you at this point.

That is why I said I "hoped" to see it.

If they were going to do it, now would have been the time, IMHO.

It may occur in the future, but 1) at the least, it will be some time from now for sure (next major maintenance cycle) if it happens at all, and, 2) I do not think they will do it now at all. Too bad. The ship is going to be around for a couple of more decades and such a refit would be a good thing for it.

When 112 and 113 went in for their mid-life update, they were about 15 years old.

167 will turn 15 in 2014, so it is not too difficult to forecast when the MLU is due.

to be fair, it already had one in 2004. Although nothing as significant as what 052s went through. As much as I'd like to them putting HQ-10 SAM on it, it's probably more likely they will keep HQ-7 and do an upgrade similar to that of 052s.

Yes, the 2004 refit was really just part of the fleet-wide replacement of the (reportedly unsafe) 100 mm Type 79A (H/PJ-33?) by the ”stealthy” 100 mm Type 99 (H/PJ-33A?) turret.

Looking at this ship actually it's quite a nice ship, usually we are caught up on Type 052C/D but these are ships that add "critical mass" to the navy

Very nice looking and also modern ships and a must keep for the navy
