Well done A.Man and should serve us well as an illustration that China's air doctrine is well in hand, and moving from an emphasis of bomb droppers and missle launcher to a serious A2A dogma, likely modeled on our past success. And apologies up front if that sounds presumptive, but it seems as if we have all the elements of our old Hi/Lo right here in front of us. A strong A2A dogma is sadly lacking in the USAF, as illustrated by the USAF loosing the Hi ground in the F-22 battle to promote the feel good, do all F-35. Retired Air Force Chief of Staff, General Ronald Fogleman stated recently we have put all our eggs in this one basket with the F-35, and encouraged keeping the F+ chicks in the line up to at least fill in the gap. He spoke recently at the Air Force Associations Mitchell Institute for Airpower in Virginia, if any one would like more specific references this was listed in an AFM "daily report".

Looks like it's a normal three display setup.

My amateur observational skills cannot discern much else that was not already known...

I have to admit the HUD is a little dissapointing especially for a Gen 5 aircraft. It's small compared to the F-22's and what's with the ridiculously big frame? No doubt the frame will inhibit some field of view especially during close quater combat.

I don't think it's particularly small -- it's the same holographic HUD as J-11B, and from the front angle it's obviously quite large.

Compare with F-22's

the only difference is the J-11B/J-10B/J-20 HUD is a bulkier frame, but it shouldn't inhibit view, because it is the frame's "length" which is bulky, not the "width". The pilot will be looking behind the HUD anyway, not side on.

You know why it has that frame around it, like F-22? So that when the pilot needs to eject, and the (single piece) canopy flies off , the HUD will be strong enough to resist the slipstream and not break and hit the pilot...( btw don't think it's apreciably smaller, it's the angle etc.) :)

Not to mention the fact that the HUD currently used on the J-20 is probably a stop-gag measure. Just take a look at YF-23's cockpit and you'll know what I am talking about.
