I am skeptical of this

So according to this the Russians cancelled the Su27 license agreement instead of the Chinese?

Their refusal to disclose the number of Su35s China 'requested' seems interesting.

China probably wouldn't mind paying for a small number to see what new stuff the Russians have done to the Su27 airframe, but I cannot see China willing to buy many.

Apart from the engines, there isn't really anything the Su35 has that would interest China all that much.

No doubt the usual fanboys will have some wet dreams to this, until nothing happens again, like most Russian pronouncements of Chinese potential weapons buys lately.

The S400 would be a different matter tho.

On a pure technical basis, the Su-35 would simply be repeat of what is seen on the J-15 and J-11B.

Or they can just take apart one of the Su30MK2s since it shares airframe (besides cockpit) with Su35.

I believe that there are some internal refinements to the airframe in addition to having new radar, engines and lots of avionics upgrades compared to the MK2.

However, having said that, aside from the engines, there really isn't much the Su35 has over an AESA equipped J11B.

Based on the respective strengths of the Chinese and Russian electronics industries as evidenced by the other radar and avionics systems they have fielded in recent years, I believe there is more than a reasonable chance that the J11B may well have a better radar and other avionics compared to the Su35.

If it was CAC that built the J11B instead of SAC, I would even say there is a significant chance that the FBW and FCS would be superior, but since this is SAC, I would not go quite that far just yet.

SAC has done its own internal modifications to the Flanker airframe with the J11B, but it may still benefit them to compare notes with what the Russians did with the Su35. From what I have gathered, the Su35 represents a significant improvement over the baseline flanker in pretty much all regards.

China has come a long way in the last decade or so, but the Russians are not useless either, and China should never be too proud to refuse a chance to expand their own technical understanding and capabilities.

Is my eyes playing a trick on me? Does that nose looks like AESA?

No, ... that's simply the old original N001 twisted cassegrain radar of the Su27SK.
