Scram jet and ram jet are quite simple structually, almost not really an engine, but they require high speed to operate.

a- turbojet, b- ramjet, c- scramjet.

I think the top is for a turbo-type engine and bottom maybe a scramjet. What they could do is have a panel that could direct airflow from top inlet to the turbo and then close it off to by pass the turbo when scramjet kick starts using the lower inlet.

Hi those pics look very cool, but dont you think that the intakes are very close to the rear of the plane?

The plane is called the J-16, and it's a 6th-generation fighter. It is apparently in late stages of development (in testing stage) and it will eventually serve as successor of the J-13 and J-14.

Service time expected 2018.

It might have just been the angle. I was concerned about the top intake but for bottom I though It was more or less reasonable.
Also judging by the size of the pilots this plane would be larger than the normal fighter jets.
