Hongri Technology: Plans to establish a holding subsidiary to operate semiconductor packaging lead frame business

Hong Rida Co., Ltd. recently announced that it plans to jointly invest with Fujian Tedu Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Hongke Tongchuang Enterprise Management Partnership (Limited Partnership) to establish a new holding subsidiary, Hongke Semiconductor (Dongtai) Co., Ltd. (tentative name, subject to final approval by the local registration authority).

The subsidiary will focus on the R&D, design, manufacturing, and sales of semiconductor packaging lead frames. Hongri Da invested RMB 90 million, representing a 60% stake. Fujian Tedu Technology Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Hongke Tongchuang Enterprise Management Partnership (Limited Partnership) each invested RMB 30 million, representing a 20% stake.

Hongri Da was founded in 2003 and focuses on connectors as its core product, supplemented by precision mechanical components. It is also actively developing new businesses such as semiconductor heat dissipation and 3D printing.

This move marks a further expansion of Hongri Technology's presence in the semiconductor industry, aiming to enhance its market competitiveness and technological strength in this field. According to financial data for the first three quarters of 2025, Hongri Technology's revenue was 693 million yuan, with a net loss attributable to the parent company of 18.7 million yuan, indicating a loss-making situation. The strategic objective of this investment is to integrate resources from all parties, build synergies, seize market opportunities, and enhance the company's profitability and overall competitiveness.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued new regulations to accelerate the construction of pilot production platforms in the manufacturing industry.

the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued the "Notice on Further Accelerating the Systematic Layout and High-Level Construction of Pilot-Scale Platforms in the Manufacturing Industry," aiming to promote the high-quality development of pilot-scale platforms in the manufacturing industry and accelerate the industrial application of scientific and technological achievements.

The notice points out that pilot production platforms in manufacturing are key nodes connecting the innovation chain, technology chain, and industrial chain, with main functions including design verification, functional performance verification, process verification, adaptation verification, and production verification
. By aggregating various industrial resources, pilot production platforms can effectively promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and provide strong support for the development of the manufacturing industry.

According to the notice, by the end of 2027, my country will have basically established a modern pilot-scale testing platform system, forming a nationwide manufacturing pilot-scale testing service network with multi-entity participation, multi-field layout, and multi-level services. To this end, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has proposed a strategy of "strengthening a batch, activating a batch, and filling gaps in a batch" to systematically promote the construction of pilot-scale testing platforms.

Specifically, the plan will guide existing pilot-scale testing platforms to a higher level and create a number of national-level manufacturing pilot-scale testing platforms; provide precise support to pilot-scale testing platforms with public service attributes but whose capabilities need to be improved to enhance their endogenous development momentum; and at the same time, focus on key industry sectors such as artificial intelligence, biomedicine, and new materials to plan and build a number of new pilot-scale testing platforms.

The notice also clarified the specific work arrangements for local industry and information technology authorities, including the application, selection, and dynamic adjustment of pilot-scale test platforms. Furthermore, it emphasized the need to establish and improve a diversified and stable investment mechanism and a scientific and standardized operating mechanism to ensure the efficient operation of the pilot-scale test platforms.

Through these measures, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will further accelerate the construction of pilot production platforms for manufacturing, promote the deep integration of technological innovation and industrial innovation, and provide a solid guarantee for the advancement of new industrialization.

Update. Looks like Nanjing Optical Co., Ltd. is working to launch lithography Objective lenses for KrF lithography with a NA of 0.57 and ArF lithography with a NA of 0.90. Looks like they are competing with CIOMP Beijing Guowang Optical Technology Co., Ltd. the company that is mass producing China ArF immersion machine 1.35 NA Objective Lenses. The project is in the trial stage.

My guess is that different from Carl Zeiss and probably Guowang they are not bounded to a single company or machine. My guess is that they will probably sell their lithography optics to willing buyers. That include current lithography startups.

CETC jianhuagk their next generation fully automated UVLED lithography machines for 12" wafers for ICs, MEMs and power devices.

The machine improve over the BG-800 in precision, changes the inefficient mercury lamps with 365nm UVLED engine arrays and a major increase in productivity from 150/200mm wafers to 200/300mm wafers and from 2 FOUPS to 3 FOUPS.

A different kind of lithography from a CETC company called jianhuagk, an old concept bring back to life with modern computer vision algorithms and interferometers. This machines is more for packaging, MEMs, power ICs, RF, Third generation chips with GaAs, GaN and SiC. Way cheaper than projection lithography but no as scalable.

Though CETC 45 have and has been develop projection steppers for almost 2.5 decades ago and I have the suspicion the that KrF and ArF scanners that was announced by MIIT are from CETC 45 and not SMEE or SiCarrier who have probably looking for more stringent specs due Huawei requirements.
I think CETC scanners are going mostly at least for a while to make chips for the PLA and government. Different from what D.C. stooges think, the PLA always wanted their own semiconductor supply chain and their network of semiconductor fabs for their own chips. Outside SMIC , HHGrace and other commercial fabs and much less rely on imported chips. The foreign dependency SMIC and HHGrace was always a concern for the PLA. And even more for the government because the size of China state sector, the dependency on these chips to just to keep the country working was critical. 70% of chips make in the country probably was misinterpreted reference to the chips that China state sector wanted to be made locally preferable with local tools.

Without US export controls I would had expected to see to two distinct semiconductor supply chains inside China, the commercial supply chain SMIC and HMLC, mostly depending on foreign suppliers and the government-military supply chain with mostly domestic companies.

I was actually expecting more than $4B given their current pace of expansion, but then again adding capacity in NAND doesn't cost as much as for DRAM. CXMT capex is probably close to that of SMIC. $4B is probably enough for 50k wpm, which probably allow them to fully fill up that 2nd plant with equipment.

Also, my impression is that a good portion of that is still going to TEL & ASML for the past 2 years. Although going forward, if the all domestic production line actually is working well.

DDR4 prices have almost tripled from a year back, even on Taobao. I sure hope for the sake of my server that YMTC or CXMT put some more supply on the market.

With AI increasing the demand for DRAM in general, and while many systems are still running on DDR4, all the major manufacturers have left or are leaving the DDR4 market for DDR5 due to intense competition, and prices are expected to continue to spike unless a player re-enters.
