Rumors are circulating in PAF corridors that during the recently concluded visit of the Vice Prime Minister to China post clashes, Pakistan has requested the completion of the remaining 30 J-10CEs from its original order (Total 50).

Additionally, Pakistan has expressed interest in procuring another 30 - 40 J-10CEs to fulfill the original plan of equipping six squadrons, as envisioned at the inception of the induction program.

Fingers crossed it all comes through.

A wise choice - way more reasonable than the J-35A rumored by the Pakistani media all day long

What is the source?

As mentioned in the message itself, these are rumors currently circulating within PAF circles, there’s no official confirmation yet. It’s based on informal defense chatter and should be treated as unverified information for now.

That said, if true, we might see additional units in PAF colors in the very near future. Let’s wait and watch, fingers crossed.

Rather than just challenging with a “source?” comment, it’s more productive to dig a little and try to gather details independently.

Honestly, that’s not the way it works here esp. when barely anyone here has contacts to these inner circles. As such this question is more than legit even more so since in the other regular Social media scene you at Best get Fan-Boy nonsense like „The First J-35 Are already in Pakistan“!

The J-35A hype was reignited post-clashes when Indian media started pushing narratives based on old discussions about a possible induction, something that's been in the public domain since last year. Once CNN picked it up, the usual drum-beating followed.

But those familiar with the platform’s current development status know it's still at least 3–4 years away from any realistic induction into PAF. A wise choice, indeed, rooted in operational reality, not media sensationalism.

Fair point, but instead of always demanding sources especially in areas where information is limited or speculative by nature a bit of common sense and critical thinking goes a long way.

Take the example you mentioned: claims like "The first J-35s are already in PAF colors" are clearly fan-driven exaggerations and should be treated as such.

Using such examples to highlight the legitimacy of a question actually proves the need for a more reasoned, discerning approach rather than just echoing unverified noise.

My understanding is that PAF still have lots of old F-7 and Mirages in service (around 100?), so it makes sense for an expanded J-10 order to replace most or all them in the near future. JF-17 is all fine and dandy as a low tier cheap fighter, but they do need numbers of more capable airframes, bet it J-10s and/or J-35s (which will be the tip of the spear). Plus the oldest F-16s, now over 40 years old, will need replacing soon, which might make the most sense for a J-35 delivery timeline.

Really, look at the interview with the head of PAF I posted on the Kashmir thread:
  • PAF will get J-35A at some point, but not soon unless there is an emergency, it's not even inducted in PLAAF yet (a point the head specifically made).
  • PAF doesn't want to be totally dependent on China and will still source some kit from Turkey and the West.
  • Indian claims of Chinese involvement on 7th May denied, PAF relied on its own intel resources.
  • PAF still loves F-16 and wants to upgrade Block 52s, although not used on 7th May.
Which of course doesn't rule out further J-10CE purchases. The main stumbling block being money.
