Re: New Generation Fighter
Excellent analysis may I add not only is China hampered by low industrial base and recurrent politic disruption. She also has to contend with the strickest embargo ever imposed on a country. Let consider the first stage of Turbine here you have temperature exceeding 2000 deg F coming from combustion chamber . Now how you are going to cool the turbine blade ?.
You need single crystal material blade and drill hole inside it to cool it with air
For long time China cannot even buy 5 axis NC Machine . She now produce it themselves
Luckily the folks in Chinese engine industry seem perfectly clear-headed about the "task" mentioned above. There was an media interview (only the Chinese version googleable though) with the CGTE chief engineer Jiang Hepu (chiefly responsible for WS15 I suppose) last year. He claimed they are 30 years
behind the US engine industry, and will spend the next 40 years to narrow down the gap!
So they know exactly the track condition below their feet.
Personally I believe the different atittudes lead to the contrasting outcomes of WS10 and Kaveri projects.
Btw rumor says the first generation of monocrystalline blade is being tested on WS10, let's wait & see what will come up with WS15.
