Gordon Chang would be proud. Books and articles of China's collapse have become very popular when China was near surpassing Japan in GDP.

I'm a little confused here , did I miss anything in last decade or two? According to uncle gordi, all Chinese economic data were/are fake. Chinese century never existed. Now it's over all of a sudden!! China never went on that cliff to begin with. So how are they about to fall off that cliff?
I don't know how this calculation works. I'm getting a little bit old to understand these 7 dimensional Gordi mathonomics which goes way over my head now a days

It is like that BS propaganda that showed up recently that China did not grow at all because its cities are not emitting enough night light.

You would think that a country which built a high speed rail network larger than the rest of the world put together, built 9 of the largest 10 metro networks in the world, plus a gargantuan amount of bridges and highways, and installed more wind and solar power than the rest of the world put together as well, all of this over just the last 10 years, would be growing. But not according to these shysters.

Per capita electricity consumption in China over the past decade basically doubled.

Per capita electricity consumption in China surpassed Brazil's sometime in 2006. Also, not on this chart, but in 2022 China had electricity consumption per capita of 6,199 kWh vs 4,813 kWh in the UK. So China basically surpassed the UK in that metric already.

Hero of the motherland Gordon Chang contributing to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation by ensuring the Americans are too deluded to take real action on China.

BRICS expansion is a no brainer. There are lots of things to criticize India for but this isn't one of them, I can honestly see why they may have reservations about bringing in countries like SA that could possibly dilute their influence. I wouldn't want BRICS to expand too quickly but I think the process shouldn't be too slow either. I've said this before but it needs to expand in a way that brings in key players from different regions, for me the next wave should be Indonesia (Asia), Nigeria (Africa), Argentina (Latam), and Saudi Arabia (Mid East/West Asia). That way you keep everybody happy. I wouldn't want to bring in too many countries from the same region nor would I want too many Muslim countries at the same time, no offence to my Muslim friends but it can't have disproportionate influence in a developing country forum.
They need to come up with a new and proper name, otherwise it will become BRICSINASA.

Italy actually does matter but there is really nothing China can do if they want to cool down relations. It was done at the American request. Usual smoking gun evidence for that is a false justification. Their minister blamed BRI for the Italian trade deficit with China, which can't be true because BRI is no trade deal.

What China finding out is most of the developed which are aligned with the USA are actually complicit with Pax Americana. China needs a multi-decade plan to fracture and weaken this group.

1- Needs to decrease exposure slowly, only granting market access to friends
2- Cooperation with the developing world must be expanded, including political ties. This is not emotional third-worldism. These countries already make up half of Chinese trade and they are growing faster than the West, especially non-US West. "Friend-shoring" is a delusion.
3- Cultural exports. Over decades their effect can win friends.

An even easier smoking gun is to check for people going well outside their lanes. BRI is an investment issue, so why is the defence minister getting involved citing economic reasons?

Broke: China cities are not growing because they are not emitting enough light.

Woke: China cities are not growing because they are not eating enough meat.

China's Meat Consumption Has Plateaued

Urbanisation's stall & supply constraints have put breaks on increases in consumption

This article I found to be remarkable.

For it did not tell us that the West has sided with America over China, it actually claims countries are still deciding. I thought there was an unspoken policy in the Western media to not report any truth on all matters regarding China.

This article seems to me is an acknowledgement that not everyone is on the same page. That is what I believe this article is all about, trying to get everyone to redouble their efforts to get the Western world on the same page in regards to China.

That is what is wrong with this article. Although it is semi-honest that not everyone is on the same page, that Western opinion and how to deal with China is not unified, the article still lies, in that it does not say which way countries are leaning. We need to look no further than the US government versus Huawei fight to know which way countries are leaning.

And finally, the biggest fault of a certain type of political thinking, reflected in articles such as this one, I do not know what to call it, other than something only political science people would write because they do not really understand technology or economics. That is what if they pass anti-China laws, and no one wants to follow them and they all try to find work arounds? We saw that recently with NVADIA who are required to not sell a certain product to only quickly redesign it to a lower performance level to continue to selling to China. In fact, that DJI ban and how US law enforcement would still use those drones, that is a running joke at this point since that has gone on for so long. If we ignore all that, facts on the ground, then political articles like this makes all the sense in the world.

:D
