EDIT
I add I had been following so called great progress, of course cooked, against ISIL:
Apr 4, 2016

Clapper and crew are the ones "under the gun" here, all these little puff pieces and the Senate Foreign Intelligence Committee are giving the outgoing BHO Regime cover as they have to "get out of town"? They all have their "rear ends" hanging out as they try to pin Hillary's stunning loss on "Russian Hacking".

The truth is that ordinary people have been "fed up" with the "status quo", and decided to "throw the bums out". The BHO team has tentacles and feelers in every federal agency and bureaucracy, and they have used those tentacles to drive the "narrative", for instance that ISIS was the JV team??? Or IRS sitting on tea party organizations and basically shutting them down.

So lots of people in our own government have been trying to influence not only our own elections, but those in other countries as well? The BHO team spent lots of US tax dollars trying to defeat Bibi Netanyahu in Israel, and look at the "Arab Spring", so yes they are "sticking together". No doubt Putin has nothing but contempt for Obama/Hillary, but they basically put themselves in that position by trying to "play their little games?"

the first time I've heard about DARPA’s TUNA connectivity program
enters demonstration phase

A DARPA program that seeks to ensure U.S. forces have connectivity even when traditional tactical networks are knocked offline has completed its initial phase.

Named TUNA (short for Tactical Undersea Network Architecture), the program completed the concept phase and now transits to a demonstration of a prototype at sea.

TUNA seeks to develop and demonstrate novel, optical-fiber-based technology options and designs to temporarily restore radio frequency (RF) tactical data networks in a contested environment via an undersea optical fiber backbone.

The concept involves deploying RF network node buoys—dropped from aircraft or ships, for example—that would be connected via thin underwater fiber-optic cables.

The very-small-diameter fiber-optic cables being developed are designed to last 30 days in the rough ocean environment—long enough to provide essential connectivity until primary methods of communications are restored.

“Phase 1 of the program included successful modeling, simulation, and at-sea tests of unique fiber-cable and buoy-component technologies needed to make such an undersea architecture work,” said John Kamp, program manager in DARPA’s Strategic Technology Office. “Teams were able to design strong, hair-thin, buoyant fiber-optic cables able to withstand the pressure, saltwater, and currents of the ocean, as well as develop novel power generation concepts.”

Supplying power to floating buoy nodes on the open sea presents a particular challenge. During the first phase of the program, the University of Washington’s Applied Physics Lab (APL) developed a unique concept called the Wave Energy Buoy that Self-deploys (WEBS), which generates electricity from wave movement. The WEBS system is designed to fit into a cylinder that could be deployed from a ship or aircraft.

Having now entered its second and final phase, the program is advancing to design and implement an integrated end-to-end system, and to test and evaluate this system in laboratory and at-sea demonstrations. As a test case for the TUNA concept, teams are using Link 16—a common tactical data network used by U.S. and allied forces’ aircraft, ships, and ground vehicles.

Donald Trump names Dan Coats national intelligence director
  • 59 minutes ago
US President-elect Donald Trump has named Dan Coats as his national intelligence director.

The Indiana ex-senator formerly served on the Senate Intelligence Committee.

Mr Trump said Mr Coats would "provide unwavering leadership... and spearhead my administration's ceaseless vigilance against those who seek to do us harm".

The appointment comes a day after an intelligence report accused Russia's president of ordering a campaign aimed at helping Mr Trump to victory.

Mr Trump said in a statement that Mr Coats had "clearly demonstrated the deep subject matter expertise and sound judgment required to lead our intelligence community".

A statement from Mr Coats said: "There is no higher priority than keeping America safe, and I will utilise every tool at my disposal to make that happen."

Mr Coats has been a vocal critic of Russia over its 2014 annexation of Crimea.

He will need the Senate to confirm his appointment, replacing James Clapper.

What does the national intelligence director do?
The position of director of national intelligence was created after the 11 September terrorist attacks to improve the US intelligence gathering agencies.

The director is the president's principal adviser on matters on national intelligence, overseeing the National Intelligence Programme, which covers all projects related to the intelligence community.

The post also oversees the US Intelligence Community, the grouping that combines the independent work of 16 agencies, including the CIA.

Who is Dan Coats?
Dan Coats entered Congress in 1981, representing Indiana in the House. He took Dan Quayle's place in the Senate in 1989 when Mr Quayle became President George HW Bush's vice-president.

Mr Coats had earlier served in the US Army in the 1960s and left the Senate in 1998, becoming US ambassador to Germany in the early 2000s.

After that he became a lobbyist for pharmaceutical, defence and energy companies, returning to the Senate in 2010. He did not seek re-election in 2016.

During his time in the Senate he sat on the Select Committee on Intelligence.

What's his relationship with Mr Trump?
Has not always been easy.

In early 2016 he said: "I am increasingly concerned by Donald Trump's statements and behaviour, and I have serious concerns about his ability to win the general election and provide presidential leadership."

He was also damning about Mr Trump's lewd comments on women from 2005 that were leaked to the press during the election campaign.

On 8 October, he wrote on Twitter that "Donald Trump's vulgar comments are totally inappropriate and disgusting, and these words have no place in our society".

And back in December 2015, when Mr Trump announced his plans to prevent Muslims immigrating to the US, Mr Coats wrote: "Once again, Donald Trump has chosen bombastic rhetoric over sound judgement."

Generally, however, he supported his party's nominee once chosen, publicly criticising former candidate Ted Cruz for refusing to endorse Mr Trump.

What about Russia?
Mr Coats pressed President Barack Obama to punish Russia harshly for its annexation of Crimea.

As a result, Mr Coats was among several lawmakers banned from travelling to Russia.

The matter is key given the new intelligence report that says the Kremlin developed a "clear preference" for Mr Trump during the election.

It said Russia's goals were to "undermine public faith" in the US democratic process and "denigrate" his Democrat opponent Hillary Clinton.

After being briefed on the findings, Mr Trump stopped short of accusing Russia of interfering, saying only that the election outcome was not affected.

So why choose Mr Coats?
The answer may lie not with Mr Trump, but his running mate, vice-president-elect Mike Pence.

Mr Pence was the governor of Indiana - Mr Coats's state.

The two men know each other well - so well that Mr Coats was the senator who seconded Mr Pence's nomination for the Republican vice-presidential candidacy.

These crazy photos show a Russian Su-27 Flanker dogfighting with a U.S. Air Force F-16 inside Area 51

The photographs in this post were taken from Tikaboo Valley, near Groom Lake, Nevada, by Phil Drake, who was lucky enough to observe a Su-27P Flanker-B dogfighting with an F-16, presumably one of the four Groom Lake based -D models in the skies of the famous Area 51.
