As for the Russian pilots getting trained on it, they may just use the ski-jump on the Liaoning instead- if they later decide to have CATOBARs, land based CAT will be used 1st for training, with less risk of losing planes & pilots over water; perhaps then they could send them to China before their new CVN is ready.

That report - if you go back to the original source - was an April's fool day joke. :p

Or we may be shown a US satellite picture like that of the CV-16.
Even if it was a joke, it was very logical in the context of Adm. K refit!

Sorry to nit-pick ... it would at best be in Your opinion, but it was not !

So far there are no official considerations to train Russian pilots on board the Liaoning.

Considerations may not be officially publicized but we can read them in rumours/leaks. Just because there is no official announcement yet, it doesn't mean it won't happen. And to me it sounds like the truth. Besides realistic training time, they can also learn from each other & adopt what is useful, as the article said.

No, I'm not! Read between the lines: "Russia and China have been negotiating for some time about temporary training "internships" for pilots of Russian naval aviation at the ..the Chinese aircraft carrier "Liaoning".
Perhaps they r still negotiating, hence no official statement.
Or it's a done deal & they just didn't bother/want to announce it yet.

First of all I beg you to calm down: You post a report of most dubious content that has been discussed at several forums and is confirmed a 1st April joke.

End of the debate especially since this is the wrong thread to discuss such issues.

By the way, I find this attitude quite strange and beg you to reconsider: YES, many facts were reported only via rumours but not every rumour is a fact esp. when no evidence for the contrary is given. In the same way the rumours that little green men from Mars visited earth are surely correct, since there's no evidence that they did not.

End of this stupid debate in this thread.

. He was completely joking.

He made up the source too. He claimed the rumour came from a Chinese defence magazine but the name of that "magazine" is gibberish that was the result of Russian translated into Chinese.
