Gun and ammunition of ZTQ 15 is simply not powerful enough. It's ammunition has a DOP of 220mm at 66.42° from 2km that's around 350mm at 0°.

Even flanking won't help , chances of which itself happening are very low in first place lol ,any modern MBT like T 90 will eat it alive. Hell even Indian army ATGM Arsenal is more than enough to deal with this tin can, even APS won't save it.
Sprut light tank are coming with 125mm gun to provide better operation flexibility on our side.

No, it's 550mm RHA equivalent in a straight line at 2km.

It is extremely embarrassing that @berserk cannot even interpret rudimentary statistics written in English ... the fact of the matter is the Indians would not be going for the Sprut (which itself is a pretty poor light tank) if the Type 15 was not a huge threat. As usual Indian actions cannot back up and are even opposed to their words.

And thats just the previous generation round :D

Perhaps our friend confused the value because 350mm RHAe in a straight line at 2km is what his country's Arjunk aspires to.
You overestimated a bit lmao

It's really funny to see Indians try to trash the ZTQ15's APFSDS (105mm bear in mind) when its performance vastly exceeds their garbage 120mm rounds and even outperforms their old imported 125mm Mango rounds :p:p:p

Most Chinese members here simply don't realise that for ZTQ 15 to be somewhat effective in one on tank battle, it would have to come close to around 1km of T 90. it would be a dead meat , no Matter how much flanking manuver's it try lol :). ATGM are it's best hope. But even that won't cut it against T 90.
It would be very easy to flank the T90s if you guys send the same ones that participated in the tank biathlon ;)

Fingers crossed for more vedic maintenance

Side turret armor is listed as around 200mm, so T-90s can get penetrated if ERA doesn't go off or ERA is avoided.

Flanking, likewise, is a standard military tactic.

In either case, the Chinese have ZTZ-99s in the area with a power to weight ratio in the 24-27 range, giving them better maneuverability than T-90s. And ZTQ-15s can still launch a ATGM to take out T-90s if needed, you must remember that the ZTQ-15 is roughly equivalent to Sprut; the Sprut has a more powerful gun and the ZTQ-15 has better armor against small arms and ATGMs.

You have to remember that the ZTQ-15s two main roles are reconnaissance and infantry support; they're more intended to provide an assault gun to blast down a suppressed infantry position or to do reconnaissance in force on the ground when drones by themselves won't suffice.

Their job isn't to take on MBTs; ATGMs can provide some limited anti-MBT capability, but there's other vehicles and weapons intended to do so. The idea that a ZTQ-15 battalion attacking MBTs would get wrecked is correct, but implausible. ZTQ-15s only engage MBTs if they have an advantageous position, i.e, flanking, or if there's nothing left on the Chinese side.

Is it a T90 that made those three penalty laps in 1 minute off camera? Because damn, that's very good mobility.

Also, the ZTQ-15 purportedly has frontal protection at least in the 200-450mm range (some sources state it's protected against 3BM42 125mm rounds), where 200-450mm reflect the penetration ability of the 3BM42 at differing angles. Noticeably, the ZTQ-15 doesn't claim to be able to protect against Lekalo 3BM44 which has a claimed peak penetration power of 650mm, although modern Vacuum 3BM69/3BM70 has a claimed peak penetration power of 1000mm/900mm depending on whether it's running DU or Tungsten.

On the positive side, the level of frontal protection the ZTQ-15 has is roughly comparable to that of old T-72s without ERA, so you can see how technology advances; the ZTQ-15, a light tank of 2015, is superior to a T-72, an MBT, that went into production in 1972.

===

And lastly, remember this entire thing is in mountainous terrain. If, say, a ZTQ-15 is hosted on a slope somewhere where it can get a clear shot at the top of a T-90, the T-90 is toast no matter how good the general ERA is. 3rd generation tanks in general have terrible top attack protection. This is possibly why the PLA stuck to 105mm; even 105mm is adequate for engaging enemy MBTs in mountain warfare provided you have a sufficient height advantage.

300 RHA at what angle ? It's 60°. That's more than 600 mm at 0°. Projectile length is actually quite longer than what is shown in that pic.
