any news? I heard 15 prodution has been halted just like M10 in US.
They already have 1200 of these produced, China probably doesn't need more than this. China will likely focus on next gen MBT instead of a light tank. Moreover, Tanks are getting obsolete in modern combat anyway. I don't think Armored thrust using tanks is viable anymore. Drones + artillery combo have made offensive warfare too costly. There will have to be a different type of tactics. Worth looking at Russia and Ukraine and how they are experimenting offensive operations.

Modern warfare still has the advantage of the attacking side, but the dominant weapons are advanced missiles and various types of unmanned aerial vehicles for saturation strikes.

No,

No, firepower is always advantageous for defense. Because offense requires moving towards the enemy under fire. So. the more powerful and accurate fire is, the more losses the aggressor will suffer when they move to capture an area. In the past, Tanks were useful because their armor could protect against gunfire and anti-tank missiles were still not that effective against mass tank attacks. But now Tanks are pretty much helpless, its like Infantry in WW1, they have absolutely no defense.

The only thing that can enable offense again will be unmanned ground vehicles and humanoid robots. That might make combat more manuver based once again.

The Ukrainian conflict proves sensors and the ability to process the data they gathered determines who wins and who loses. In an alternative universe, a more technological advance Russia can blockade a targeted area with drones and VVS, and take out Ukrainians with targeted artillery. The ground forces call in close air support when they advances.

One can have tons of firepower but can’t use them because enemy locations can’t be found.

a part of me hopes the new mbt will just be a larger ZTQ-15
The new MBT as of right now seems to be indeed 40-ton base vehicle with a bunch of addon packs for various purposes, some here say it seems to have a 105mm gun, but IMO I don't really agree with it especially since the weird shroud over the gun might be making the gun look thinner than it actually is. I would still be expecting a brand new 125mm gun with much longer/larger ammo.
