I really wish they would sell these light tanks to africa so that they can get used and abused. I'd love to see how this chassis evolves!

Elementary mathematics time. According to the tank driver, a single tank round costs around the monthly salary of a PLA tank crew. The ethnic minority (Uighur or Tajik?) gunner states that she has already exhausted her yearly salary in terms of rounds fired. How many live rounds has she fired?
Isn't the answer straight 12? ;)

She is probably Uighur from her name. Her collar patch indicates 下士 whose salary would be about 5500 RMB per month.

5500 RMB a month in the past used to be decent. Some more junior engineers would be something similar. Nowadays double it for the equivalent. 5500 RMB in less urban centres of China is going to go a bit further than in a typical city maybe tier 3 to 2. If accommodation and food is covered by the army, that's a surprisingly high salary BUT it is also for a tank operator so would expect it to be higher than typical infantry level.

I wonder if Type 15 rounds are more expensive than rounds for Type 96 and 99 since they are fewer in number owing to production scale and they are longer rounds owing to the design of autoloader for the light tank.

If you live in Xinjiang this is great pay. If you are stationed on a base or the frontlines… the money stretches even further. You literally don’t have anywhere to spend it on. Most soldiers send their pay home.
