Zhuhai Air Show 2018

If I recall correctly, a senior AVIC official confirmed sometime ago that a heavy, stealthy attack helicopter was in development, and that if all goes according to plan, a prototype would be built sometime 2019.

I hope there will be new information on this project at Zhuhai.

More on this: the original article from 2015 suggested that the next-generation helicopter will enter service in 2020. Another source, which I unfortunately cannot locate anymore, hinted that the years 2018 and 2019 will be watershed years for the Chinese helicopter industry.

All in all, these are fairly solid indications that a next-generation attack helicopter is close to completion or at least prototyping.

Is this the so called stealthy Z-20?
Now that the Chinese have decent combat helicopters it's time to improve their transport helicopters. Between the Z-20, Z-15, and even the Z-18 that's a load of helicopter models. I still think the Z-18 is kinda weak for a three engine helicopter, but even that is a definitive improvement over the Z-8.

PS: oh a stealthy attack helicopter. Well stealth is overrated but yes I could understand if they added IR suppression and more advanced chaff and flares systems to the WZ-10. Nothing too complicated.

The US tried a radar invisible attack helicopter with the Comanche and it was a boondoggle. The price went through the roof, and the helicopter became vulnerable to ground fire because of all the lightweight composites in its construction.

So IR and sound suppression yes, but radar invisibility on helicopter, it's a bad idea. Especially considering you can fly nape of the earth in one making radar mostly useless.

The original source (some time ago) was talking about a stealthy attack helicopter after Z-10.

I think, stealthy transport helicopter is a niche product that is at the far end of PLA's wish list if it is on the list at all. Even the stealthy black hawks that US used to kill OBL were two one-off converted black hawks, not a new class of their own. The point is that when one sends in transport helicopter in numbers, one already has gained air control over the battle field making stealth not much a necessity, they are trucks. Stealth is desirable in certain conditions, but useless and pointless in other.

[Edit], sorry for not reading your post carefully. Now I realized that you have realized that "it is about Attack Heli".

Not sure if he is speaking from his ass, but PB19980515 claims that the FC-31 2.0 will attend the 2018 Zhuhai Airshow.

Q: 2.0去不去珠展?还力推外贸吗

PB19980515: 本身就是外贸产品。。。。。。会去航展的。。。。。。

Q: "Will the 2.0 go to the Zhuhai Airshow? Is it still being promoted for export?"
PB19980515: "It itself is an export product. It will attend the Zhuhai Airshow."
