Colonel
I found this on Huitong, not sure if anyone has talked about this yet... The new Z-19. However, the photo listed on the site looks like a Z-9 to me...

The Z-19 thingy is probably just a plastic model used for a Chinese TV series.

Doubtful, it has the AVIC logo on it...

Looks like the Z-10, are you guys sure this is a new design?? I can't really tell if there is any visual difference between the "Z-19" and Z-10 besides the fantail tail rotor design.

Well Z-10 has an apache style tail and it's already starting to enter service -- I doubt they would substantially redesign it that much -- and the Z-19 is supposedly developed from the Z-9, which has a fenestron tail rotor as well.
So yes I'm sure it's a new design, and I'm sure it exists, from this photo of a mock up at (what I presume to be) an AVIC compound.

I'm no expert, but wouldn't the position of the Z-19's engine exhaust (pointing upwards) interfere a bit with the lift of the aircraft? It may not interfere by much, but I believe that it might be more efficient if the exhaust wasn't oriented that way.

There are TWO perfectly good reasons, but I am not going to say it. Its best secrets are kept secret. ;)
That particular detail shows the level of careful thoughts put into the design. I congratulate CAIC for the marvelous design.
