wz-10 is comparable to new cobra but still too small to compare to apache

I meant that it's comparible in terms of layout and role. It's true that the WZ-10 is fysically smaller than the AH-64 Apache and with it's weak engines the WZ-9 turboshaft engine (1000kw 1340 shp) it can only carry half of the arms of the Apache. However China is working with France to produce the WZ-16 turboshaft engine (1500kw 1800+shp) that is scheduled to enter in to mass production in 2014 then the WZ-10 should be able to carry the same amount of weapons as the AH-64.

Precisely.. The 054A frigate engine originate from France too. With EU in big debt, $$$ is precisely what they needed.

there is no reason why WZ10 cant be as good as Apache, infact I think with the time and investment China has put into their helicopter programme WZ10 has all the hopes to become a solid attack helicopter which can rival the worlds best

China has poured its resources into helicopter programmes and we are already seeing the fruits of that investment with a vast array of helos in the pipeline and production, in the coming years we will see much improvments on WZ10

The engine probably can't fulfil a 10 tons helo.. But WZ-10 is 7.6 tons. I don't think the domestic engine is that bad.. The engine to weight ratio shall be good enough.

Helo do not need to dogfight like fighter jet. Definitely, avionics and lethal of the helo overwrites engine important. Gunship purpose is to mainly fight ground forces.
