Recent news suggested that an "optimized" version (Z-10A?) is under developemnt and it could eventually enterthe mass production. This version has a reduced weight and is powered by the indigenous WZ-9 engine.

Nice video. If Z-8 successfully attend high attitude ability. It will be the end of Mi-17 in PLA. From the video info, I think is not far.
Actually, if you look at their maximum takeoff weight, they are actually comparable. Although, it does look like Z-8 is larger.Z-8 is a Sea King type helo, while the Mi-17 is more S-70 type. If anything were to replace the Mi-17 it would be along the lines of the Improved Super Puma EC225 (same performance class as S-70).
Local media in Pakistan is reporting a plan to induct six helicopters in anti-submarine role in Pakistan Navy. Reportedly these helicopters shall be supplied by China. The local name for these aircraft would translate to "Sea King". Could someone from China shed some light on this plan. The news report is very short (and is in Urdu). Could these be Z-8?
we already have one, people just don't use it.May I ask why so many post are made here which don't have anything to do with the WZ-10 ???
Maybe we start a new tread for Chinese helicopters in general ?
