Here is a video from James E. Holmes the Batman shooter in Colorado. Here in a science camp in 2006 when he was 18. He is giving a presentation about time perception. He appears to be a brilliant neuroscience student and was doing a prestigious PHD program in the University of Colorado Denver.

A gunman shot multiple people near the Empire State Building in the Midtown area of Manhattan on Friday morning, according to several news reports.

New York City's ABC 7 reported that the shooting occurred at Fifth Avenue and West 34th Street around 9 a.m. ET. The New York Post reported that 8 people were wounded, and two people—the shooter and a bystander—died. The incident, the Post said, was the result of a co-worker dispute.

The Associated Press and others reported that police shot and killed the gunman near the tourist entrance of the Empire State Building.

Word of the shooting spread rapidly on social media networks.

"On 5th avenue surrounded by helicopters and police," @CeciliaHalling wrote on Twitter. "I'm very glad I wasn't 20 blocks further down half an hour ago."

The number of fatalities has not been made official.

Police cordoned off a one block perimeter around the Empire State Building after the shooting. Around 10 a.m., a lone tourist bus headed down Fifth Avenue, and a guide could be heard over the bus's mic explaining they were nearing the landmark. As police waved the bus to detour down 36th street, the guide was openly mystified. "I don't know what's going on, folks," he said, as the bus turned. By then the bus's passengers were looking up at the sky at a news helicopter floating overhead. Some stood, clutching their cameras.

Along 35th street, hundreds of people stood photographing the scene with iPhones and iPads. Officers could be seen standing in the middle of 34th street around a scene surrounded by police tape. Television producers roamed the crowd looking for guests. "Was anybody here when this happened? Was anybody here when this happened?" one NBC producer yelled.

Eyewitnesses told CNN that the gunman was using a rifle or shotgun.

People are messed up these days. Guns are not the fundamental problem, in countries with law prohibiting private ownership of guns, stabbing and clubbing achieve the same means. The root to all these problems is lack of respect for human lives.

On top of that, people don't act crazy randomly, there's usually a hidden problem. We should treat each other nicer, so there's a lesser chance of people like these guys going berserk.

The funny thing is only really insane people (those with mental sickness) attack people with knifes or other swinging weapons. It's very rare for the otherwise "sane" person, who for whatever reason apparently choose to do something insane, attack people with such same weapons.

I dont know where abouts you live, but over in NZ Criminologists have determined that carrying a knife is a weapon of choice for self defence by many people. Quite often when fights break out amongst certain groups, invariably a stabbing fatality occurs.

Anyone carrying a knife can still be hurt being so close to your intended victim. So naturally it would not be the weapon of choice in an attack except for crazy people who wouldn't care about their own lives. Which goes to the belief if you're caught in a bad neighborhood, just act crazy and people will leave you alone because they wouldn't want to mess with anyone who has a basic disregard for your life and doesn't fear the consequences. Like I mentioned earlier in ths thread, anyone can be a badass if you're the only one with a gun. It's when the other guy has a gun too is when the flee instinct kicks-in and suddenly the sheep in badass' clothing now fears for their own life. I lived in a bad neighborhood when I was a kid. The bullies of the neighborhood would always run away, cry, and scream like little girls seeing a mouse in the room from the smallest of dogs chasing after them. Why? Because they can't intimidate an animal like they do a human.
