The Russian Air Force has over 4,160 military manned aircraft. The USAF alone has over 5,000 grading on a curve 6 vs 8 means roughly the same ratio but that’s not factoring in the additional aircraft from other services. If we add in Russian Naval Aviation at about 360. We get about 4,520
the US Army Alone is at over 4,400 then we add another 2,600 for the USN and 1,300 for the USMC.
So the fraction here is 8 out of 13,300 or one accident for One Thousand Six hundred sixty five aircraft.
vs
6 out of 4,520. Or One Accident for Seven hundred fifty three aircraft.
The US DOD accounts for 25% of the world’s military aviation Russia only 8%. In other words Anlsvthng the ratio of US accidents is still better far better as if the Russian forces had the same fleet numbers and same ratio of accidents then it would have been 17 in 2014. And I didn’t even count drones. So whom is lacking objectivity?

No terran empire other people DO report on it. That's the equivalent of saying this kind of thing happens to the USAF more frequently while the Americans only report on a few. There's no logic and all assumption. We've seen landing gear doing this in PLAAF with Russian fighters and Russian ones too. They do report on this sort of thing and it's not that common anywhere. Less common than crashes I think.

It's such a cheap cop out excuse when people use the "it happens to them even more but they just hide it" nonsense. Everyone behaves more similar than people suppose. Even with different governments in place. Look at Japan hiding so many scandals from Toshiba to Nippon Steel to Tepco management. They have a liberal democratic gov and a "free" press too! Like that counts for anything in real life.

Yes out of reported accidents, the US is very decent and does better.

No not everyone does. It’s well known that the PLA doesn’t openly report. The incidents we have learned of leaked though the cracks. Or were cases that it was just impossible to not be known. The US does very openly report. Almost to the point of detriment.

Not exactly the fairest comparison given the discrepancy in number of aircrafts
Fair comment, lets compare 2020 vs 2020.

Two accident on the Russian side, vs. eight accident on the USA side.

USA air force has twice as many aircrafts that Russia, so it prove that the USA messed up something badly.

They report pretty openly nowadays since cellphones are so common and most of the training happen near major population centers. Not possible to keep a crash under wraps unless it happens in a faraway base like Dingxin.

Even then China still reports crashes. I recall a J-20 pilot (who also pilots J-16 and J-10C) perished during a training at Dingxin in 2018 and they still reported on his death.

The US in total, all branches of the Armed Forces, have over 3x as many aircraft (fixed wing and rotary) than Russia. And that's not the final filter. They also fly quite a bit more than the Russians do.

That 3x ratio might be 5x for all you know.

Look at Russian accidents in civilian aviation vs American or really anyone else in the developed world. You think America just covering up airliners exploding with hundreds of civilians dying? No, and it's not surprise that Russian military aircraft crash more than US ones, probably noticeably more.

Thanks, so say 1:3 ratio between the numbers, and last year accident ratio is 1:5.

Means the Russians has the same level of capability like the USA - it can be expected, considering Russia is a Nordic like country.
Most likely in few years time they will show better capabilities regards of safety and maintenance than the USA.

Regards of high tech accidents the USA track record is not so nice, just consider the space shuttle, the GE reactors in Fukushima just as starter.

Russia is a Nordic like country? It's an East Slavic country in every way. It's only connection to Scandinavia is that the founding stock of the nation were Vikings. Genetic evidence shows no population replacement. They were subsumed, like every Viking population sans Iceland (which had a population of precisely 0 before they showed up).

I'm also doubtful that the # of Russian accidents is only two considering one of those was the most hilarious of egregious errors of friendly fire.
