I like how Yankee described his morning on learning the news. Aside from all that; the US also enjoys and has the support of the global anglosphere and many countries outside of it including many in Asia like Japan, SK. Philippines etc.
That in itself is a very powerful motivator and ability to act w/o fear of consequences.
Can you imagined if PLAN or any other countries for that matter captured an oil tanker from another continent? Or blows up civilian ships thousands of miles away?
It would be a global uproar and condemnation.
