Only have a second to post. Still at work. Saw this and laughed:

Schadenfreude in a way for someone with family lost everything in 2014.
How they would have managed to go all the way to the Donbass... Managed to go there by train ? Maybe it's better for the Russian that these tanks have gone in the cauldron of hell grouped together. Don't know if we will see intense airstrikes on Ukrainians tanks formations. Not a lot of footages from Russians strikes.

I wouldn’t take it seriously. Since we don’t know how real this video is but…

Supposedly, Zelensky has ordered the invasion of Russia with the City of Belgorod as the target. Sounds like a suicide mission but whatever.

I report to the personnel the decree of the President of Ukraine. The approval of the decision of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in connection with the ongoing large-scale military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine on the basis of the proposal of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief in accordance with paragraphs 2, 17, part one, clause 116 of the Constitution of Ukraine the law of Ukraine on the legal regime of martial law

I order the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Chief of the General Staff of Ukraine to prepare all personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Ground forces, Air Force of Ukraine, Naval Forces, Airborne assault troops, Special Operations Forces, Territorial Defense Forces to deter aggressor and conduct combat operations on its territory. To prepare units of the AFU for offensive actions in the directions of the city of Belgorod and the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation.

Bring the order to the personnel and be ready for its implementation in a short time. Control over the implementation of the order shall be entrusted to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Zaluzhnyi. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky

Maybe an attack is a way to shift the battle but if they advance all their troops to the east, they will be in a way deeper mess? Maybe the war will end faster like that...

ehummm, Naval forces ?

Looks like the US wants a prolonged war with massive Ukrainian casualty to justify more future pressure on the EU.
I don't think its to justify more pressure on EU, they already have full control over the entire parliament that they could keep trying to pass bills to destroy their own member's economy and industry. What they are doing instead is trying to justify the action to the domestic population in EU, and serving as a pretext to increasing the amount of sanctions employed. I think the reason why we don't see them pile up all the sanctions or was able to succeed in passing them, is because they're trying to gauge the public opinion and the amount of pain their economy is in.

Following what I written, I don't think the strategy is working well at the moment, the business owners and elites are pissed off at their manufacturing cost increasing and loss of market share from the sanctions, and there's already several protest propping up complaining about increasing living cost and shortages. They're trying really hard to put all the blame on Putin, but not all of them buy it. If they keep on like this, there may well be a chance they elect a nationalist leader that would be anti-NATO and anti-EU, which ironically would be helping Russia's goal of breaking unity within the alliance.

Maybe they are drunk from their own koolaid and thought that the Russian army is weakened enough that they could take some land from Russia. If they actually go ahead with their plan, Its going to be a bloodbath for them and lead to escalations from the Russian side to use more destructive weapons.

It doesn't cause a diversion. Belgorod is right next to Kharkiv. So it looks like they might be beginning an offensive in the Kharkiv region.

Problem for them is that this is also where Russian forces are the strongest. So I don't know where they're going with this.

Did they really drink their own Kool aid and actually think they're winning to the degree where offensive action into Russia is possible? Or is this gonna be like Kherson which was gonna be retaken any day now as of March 5...

on the latest battlefield developments and how he sees the conflict evolving over time.

In relation to Russia's ongoing lack of mobilisation, Kofman points out that in order to mobilise Moscow would have to declare this to be a war (as distinct from a "special military operation") which then constrains Moscow politically in terms of defining its victory conditions and thereby the prospects for a negotiated settlement.

Obviously, if Russia were to mobilise for war it would take some months for this to be reflected on the battlefield. The short-term gain would be limited to retaining the current crop of trained conscripts. To spin this around, it suggests that one reason why Russia has not mobilised is because Moscow still seeks or sees as potentially desirable a fairly limited settlement, built upon battlefield dynamics to be played out over the next couple of months using forces that are currently available or can be generated on short notice.

Also, more Cormac McCarthy:

The wrath of God lies sleeping. It was hid a million years before men were and only men have the power to wake it. Hell aint half full. Hear me. Ye carry war of a madman’s making onto a foreign land. Ye’ll wake more than the dogs. -- Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West

Anyone remember the point blank shot by a Russian tank?

There is a new rumor that wasn’t a Russian tank but a Ukrainian tank. I won’t link it but there is a clip on Reddit of the aftermath of it and it’s really NSFL. Not just limbs separated either. Close up to a dead face and etc.

They are 100% Ukrainian soldiers (flag emblem on uniform). Supposely, these Ukrainian soldiers were standing next to an abandoned Russian BMP (which the tank is in the NSFL video) and the Ukrainian tank thought they were Russians.
