House cleaning continues as Russians are removing useful idiots who aren't needed anymore. Sergei Tretyakov who has head of trade in DNR also died few days ago...

Valery Bolotov, the first head of the self-proclaimed “Luhansk People’s Republic” (“LNR”), died. Bolotov’s associate Aleksandr Borodai, the former “Prime Minister” of the “LNR,” told the Russian outlet

that Bolotov’s relatives informed him of the death, and the news was confirmed by a source from Bolotov’s circle.

Givi is rumored to be hiding in Transnistria but I doubt that saves him from the FSB.

The BBC Radio 4 is mentioning heavy fighting North of Donetsk in every news bulletin but I see nothing in other news outlets. Remarkably a quarter of an hour ago it said that the fighting might be connected with the installation of the new president in Washington, the Kiev government being in fear of improved relations between Washington and Moscow.
The BBC website says in part in this article:

The Trump effect
The renewed violence coincided with

with Russian President Vladimir Putin since he took office.

The government in Kiev fears it may lose US support during Mr Trump's presidency. According to the Kremlin, Mr Trump and the Russian leader agreed to a "partner-like co-operation" on issues including Ukraine.

While Ukraine accuses rebels of starting the violence, Russian government spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Tuesday blamed government forces.

"Such aggressive actions, supported by the armed forces of Ukraine, undermine the aims and the task of realising the Minsk accords," he said on Tuesday.

Seems like the buildup Kiev says is not happening, was partially caught on video. Ooops! More posts out there from residents of Avdiivka but I'll share this one coming from BBC:

Well it is a civil war. The issues at the heart of the conflict have not been settled, only plastered over with a thin runny slap of paint. The issues of Ukrainian governence, the division of the west to European and east to Russian preference and the opertunist grab of the Crimea are all still there.
Even if we forget the Crimea annexation, there is the government Corrpotion and that the eastern portions of the nation are far more proRussian national by ancestry and financial disposition vs the Western favouring West who currently controls the Keiv government and that via the Ukrainian government system Keiv appoints the goveners of the oblast.
What is starting to seem to happen is that the US and European nations are changing disposition and patience of favouring the Keiv government, however Keiv could still in theory change the dynamics on the ground and gat a more favorable result if it can militarily take the Donetsk.

Except that with a "popularity" of less than 10 % for the most corrupt regime in Europe and a history of military failure and excellent Russian intelligence in Kiev as well as in military matters that change of dynamics on the ground looks impossible.
The BBC remarks I quoted suggested that Kiev wanted to avoid rapproachment between Washington and Moscow but it still needs massive support, financial as well as military, to survive let alone win.
