it's of course not directly military, and I'm like one week late to have noticed, but still
UK GDP Contracts Unexpectedly In Q2

I would've thought GDP could contract only during a crisis

Starting to lose access to the largest single market in the world is something I would say is a crisis.

Yes, China will miss the unlimited access they have had to the US market? no doubt my friend, but we are off topic?
well I hesitated Yesterday at 11:14 PM if to post about their sluggish economy, but
just for the Trident nuclear program (boomers + missiles + H-bombs)
they're going to need about 50 (fifty) billion pounds (I could find a link if you insisted)

He was talking Brexit, I think. The EU started as a trade pact that then suffered the Mother of all mission creep.
Warping from a free trade agreement into a overriding pseudo government.
The fear is that a No deal Brexit would break the UK. Where as on the other end the fear is Brexit might signal the break of the EU.
Making matters more interesting was that PM May wanted to stay in the EU so not giving a millimeter to her may have been a try at getting her to push the UK to stay. But Johnson is a Brexit-er.
The EU needs the UK at the very least as a trading partner. And visa versa although both could survive a no deal it would be draconian for a while on both sides of the divide.

There is like not a real correct statement in that post.

The EU and its predeccors were always economical and poltical unions. Community method is the crucial aspect of any European union, emphazing the decision making of supranational bodies. Though it's telling that the English wiki article about that crucial framework is basically just two sentences while the German and French articles are actually long written out articles.
May and the Torries were never interested in a serious solutio, for them it was a way of gaining more power and control in domestic matters, they are completely incapable of getting a workable framework running past Brexit - see how the UK side asked for an extention TWICE (remember the country which wanted out of the EU).
Also you only need to check the trade values of the EU countries with the UK and visa verse. For the EU is Brexit troublesome, for the UK is Brexit a catastrophe - with a sudden loss of free trade not just with the EU but (remember the EU is that bloc with the most trading deals total- and volumewise - and recently creating the largest trading area in history between EU and Japan).

I can't see how most of those developement announcements will actually end in something meaningful, UK actually ordering more than the already ordered 48 F-35B would be an archivement, which isn't safe at all.

They wanted an extension twice because without it it would be the no deal Brexit which was meant to be an impossible arrangement.
By your own statement.
The UK imports 54% of its imports from the EU which is true however that means that a large portion of the EU needs to export to the UK to maintain there existing exports.the UK exports 46% to the EU.

If the UK was cut off it would be draconian to both sides. IE mutuality drastic measures as the goods and services on both sides took a hard one to the jaw.

Outside the EU trade agreements can be reached. Deals with The US, Japan and others can be hammered out.

Where Brexit hits the EU is that the Second largest economy of the EU has bailed. And may lead to other states to take the independent route as well. Pooling shows Greece and France as more skeptical of the EU than even Britain.
With Germany on shaky ground and France following after it’s a serious potential hit across the board. This isn’t a simple one sided event. It’s got across the board ramifications that the EU and it’s fans seem to not want to admit to.
But Brexit has to happen. The Voters decided remember. As a Democratic Constitutional Monarchy no fulfilling the will of the voters is a act contrary to the very nature of the state.

Germany sells one of seven cars in the UK. That's a lot but:
UK exports more than 1/2 of all their cars to the EU.
One is troublesome, the other one is industry killing. You can't try to attempt to play the chicken game if the stakes aren't even comperable.

Also you can't just make a trade deal, those can take a decade. The one between EU and Japan took 5 years which was for a trade agreement a very fast one. And countries like Japan, Canada etc. already stated that a trade deal with the UK doesn't have a high priortry.
And I don't know if you ignore any newspapers but Brexit literally killed any leaving movements in Europe.

Interesting that interpreting a simple majority as carte blanche and selling it as democratic act of the will of the people but putting two prime ministers in power without caring about the will of the people TWICE. Also it was a not binding referendum, Torries just like to call it the will of the people because it's useful regarding the own agenda.

so Clyde is building 8 x Type 26

and Rosyth is buildiung 5 x Type 31e, probably

Clyde also built 5 x off shore patrol vessels

and also the 6 x Type 45 DDG

Scotland really showing its capability not to mention the assembly of the 2 x QE carriers

and also home of the 4 x SSBN at Clyde

overall very important and skilled country I live in and proud, together with rest of the UK Scotland can have a very good naval building capability

also with a lot of foreign orders I am surprised the price of the Type 26 did not come down enough to warrant the total 13
