US military spending in 20% read from BBC

The total defence budget will be $379bn.

Mr Bush was giving details of the $2 trillion budget that he will submit to Congress on 4 February.

400 bn out of 2 trillion is 20%

I was refering to the size of the US defence budget relative to the size of the US economy overall, not in terms of an annual spending budget!

IT does not matter how much all the buisnesses in the country makes in your country all that matters is how much the government makes.

Bush is allergic to Tax increases so he will be forced to either loan, or cut even more out of the very small public school budget and medical budget

And the USA is allready in debt up over it ears and will never be able to pay back what it owes, if he loans more then he will break the goverment economy and will truely be ****

Whilst this is not meant to be an economic forum I will make ONE reply and leave it at that!
US economy 12.98 trillion GDP (PPP), GDP Growth 3.4%
US National Dept approx4 trillion.
So whilst in absoloute terms US national dept is the largets in the world,it would be more accurate to measure it relative to national GDP!
If looked at this way US debt is considerably less than say Japans, and on a par with several Eurpean countries, for example UK debt is approx 40% of GDP.

I wonder whther it will be so much a U.S. /Iran confrontation as an Israel/Iran confrontation, with the U.S. giving tacit support to the Israelis. Israeli pilots have reportedly been flying training missions to Gibralter to simulate the mission endurance requirements of an Iran strike. My questions focus on the target package and payloads, and whether those pretty, new Dolphin submarines are part of the mission plan. I can see this thing getting out of hand REAL quick if Iranian Shahab missiles are used in retaliation for an Israeli Alpha strike. Are the MSM reports true that U.S. Patriot batteries are deploying to Iraq? That would fit with this scenario. I'd be interested to see if the Jericho I and Jericho II missiles in Israel are being prepped or receiving readiness maintenance in any way, but that is understandably secret.

Who cares about the GDP, GDP is the sum of all buissnese in that location. The US goverment does not have access to that sum. If the US goverment would have 100% tax then yes the 13 trillion would be what the US Goverment has access to but the US goverment does not have 100% tax but it DOES have 100% of the loans to pay back and as I said before the US Governments budget is allready 20% on the military.

Clearly the higher a nations gdp the more tax that can be raised on it dumbass!!!For example 20% of 100,000,is more than 10,000,the US defence budget IS NOT 20% OF GDP.Get a clue or go to school!!!!:nono:
Also the loans are largely financed by nations buying US Government!!!
