The over horizon radar's range is far below the range of JY83. So the 022s better use the data from a plane to fire their missiles.

I'm gonna ask a newbie question but how do destroyers and cruisers operate with over the horizon radar? Or do they link up with other sensors like satellites or planes for better coverage? If that's the case, can't a supposed 500 ton "mothership" do the same?

Wow! I never seen so many Type 22s out of dock and in the water all at the same time.

Check out this link (courtesy of hydropod from CDF). Supposedly there were 15-20 Type 22s in the water.

Well, I never saw more than four at a time...but all the pics did not load for me either.

This pic is still the one that shows the most Type 022 FACs at one time that I have seen (eight):

Since every ship seems to have an unique camo pattern on it, does anyone have the patience to go through the past pictures and make a count according to that? Should be even more reliable than hull numbers, as those are much easier to change, while repainting the whole ship is hardly something that can be done every little while.

There's one pic there with at least 5. The guy who took these shots supposedly said there were at least 15 out in the water. I wonder what they were doing. Looks like a river. 15+ seems like a lot for an exercise there.

well, i'm not sure we will know how many there are in total, but we know there are a lot of them. I guess easily over 30. And by the time they stop building these things, they might reach my project number of 100.

今天天气很好，遂打算携老婆去江对面小岛周末半日游（地点就不说了，免得有泄露军事情报之嫌），刚到江边，远远看见江面上停了很多船只，明显比平日多。我以为是挖沙船，也没太在意。等靠近江边一看，挖沙船怎么都上了迷彩呢？仔细一看，晕，这不是022级导弹艇吗？？激动，因为旅游带了数码相机，不顾老婆抱怨，赶紧停车靠边，手忙脚乱拿出DC一顿猛拍。心里还挺纳闷，怎么这022开到江里面来了呢？？
目测了一下，能看见的大概有15~20艘左右，每隔150米就有一艘，但都停着不动，难怪我会看成挖沙船。渡船过江，离022更近了，连驾驶仓的兵哥都看见了。游客都在议论那是什么东西，渡船上的船老大还鸣笛向军舰致意，呵呵。我也不管三七二一，拿DC多角度对着022又扫了一遍，看了看照片效果，爽！！

These are magnification, enlarged and gamma balance work done by Talwar done against some Houbei pics and posted in the CDF

As you can see here the results are surprising that the racks inside are circular, not squared like, which you would expect of the YJ-8X series. Of course this brings us to mind that the last time we saw circular racks are on the ASMs on the 052C. Also plus special bonux picture.
