Just a question:Soviet Union did all of her nuclear tests in Semipalatinsk -Kazkhstan-where would Russia now test live warheads? I know Russia is huge but the facilities to monitor/tests/evaluate nuclear weapons can't easily/readily be set up and used.China for sure would still be using Lop Nur test site.

If China, the United States, and Russia were to conduct nuclear tests, it would undermine the consensus on nuclear non-proliferation to some extent. China does not wish to see more countries acquiring nuclear weapons.

I think this is more theatrics from the Trump camp. Note the original announcement was made just hours before a meeting with Xi, ie. it was a deliberate move to project power. But now his Energy Secretary clarified that the US would only focus on "non-critical" system tests.

Apparently Von Der Leyen and Merz are skipping some conference for European and South American relations because it might offend Trump. Isn’t that her job to be there to represent Europe? I wish that were the case with anything that has to do with Europe/China. I’m sick of seeing her mug. South American countries want to be identified with Europe more than the US… more than their own identity. If China had a true propaganda arm, they should exploit that. For China’s reputation of spreading propaganda, they certainly don’t do that much. The West loves to speak for people. Not because they’re helping countries to interpret what they want to convey to everyone. They do it to lie “filling in the blanks” what others are saying for a political end. Simple example is when they say China is plotting to take over the world to tell everyone who doesn’t know. Did China say that? No. But they want people to believe it to get the appropriate reaction they want. Do you see China saying that the West is for white supremacy? They don’t admit it out loud because they know people will react negatively to it. China doesn’t do that to the West. They should since they already think China does it to them. You hear what they believe when the US justifies their admitted propaganda campaign against China is a reaction to China’s badmouthing the West. That was Biden’s excuse for setting aside in the US budget $1.6 billion for propaganda against China. So why not?

They think South American countries are going do what they want anyway because of how they think how much South Americans worship them as their gods. That’s why China should turn the tables because China has the most powerful form of propaganda… it’s called the truth.

Just shows you how it’s all about Trump’s ego and image. All this economic and diplomatic turmoil really all for nothing except Trump wanting to spin it to say he solved the problem that didn’t need to be solved in the first place.
I don’t know what’s going on about Nvidia’s Blackwell chips… Might be a little too late to hold-off Chinese domestic development if they think allowing China to buy helps but for Trump to “salvage” his Presidential legacy, he’ll have to do the opposite of what is conventional thinking of Republicans. He’ll have to blast the door wide on trade relations with China if he wants to see the US get rich as much he said he was going to accomplish in order to benefit from China’s rise. The only way the US can defeat China is through war where they will have to stop China dead in its tracks that way in order to eliminate Chinese competition completely. What are the chances of that happening where the US suffers little? About zero. That’s why they don’t even try because it’s hopeless.
