Consider the Chinese response to Golden Dome.
There are 4+ Chinese startups working on reusable launch tickets like SpaceX. My guess is that in 5 years time, we'll see Chinese reusable rockets with lower launch costs than SpaceX. Then combine this with Chinese advantages in areas such as military missile costs and development speed.
Then we can reasonably expect China to develop their own Golden Dome system, with space-based targeting of moving missiles and aircraft, along with thousands of in-orbit weapons. This would likely be at significantly lower cost.

The US already has China's coastline surrounded with US bases, where US missiles and aircraft can already strike mainland China.
In comparison, China has no way to cross the Pacific Ocean and reach the Continental USA with conventional weapons.
But with a Chinese Golden Dome system with thousands of orbiting weapons, we can now expect ground targets in the Continental USA to be hit.
More broadly speaking, the US Navy and the hundreds of US military bases allow for military power projection all over the world.
Currently, China doesn't have this. But with a Chinese Golden Dome that covers the planet...
So from a strategic perspective, the weaponisation of space with Golden Dome will be a net negative for the US.

Can you imagine the outrage when the US realises that China has responded with their own Golden Dome?
Golden dome is gonna be another one of those cases where Americans made the PPT and China make the finished product
