I think instead what we will see is explosive growth in corruption, fraud, and waste. All good things to them as long as the cash flows in the right direction.

FAFO vs TACO. If this were China, they would be writing papers about how this is an example of the actions of a failed state. Look at how all the talking points blames everything what Trump is doing whether it’s Venezuela or Greenland it’s just because China and Russia has some business venture going on there and not some military occupation. Look at how Trump thinks countries he’s targeting are going to experience a renaissance because of him when all he’s going to do is just robbed countries blind because the main thing he’s doing first is taking his cut of another country’s wealth. He’s already demanding Venezuela has to buy only from the US. Talk about debt crisis… All he’s going to do is enrich his friends and bankrupt those countries having have to pay for it. It’s extortion.

Simple majority is not enough for something like this because Trump can (and likely would) veto it. In that case it would require support from 2/3 of both Senate and the House for it to become law. That's impossible without significant Republican support.
