...... basically it is a clear message to not rely on any US tech or parts ..... from now on, ZTE, all Chinese companies and most other countries tech companies would try hard to find alternatives ... there is no way they would rely on only US tech or parts, it takes time but it will happen sooner than we think. The US absolutely has won in the short term, but not in the long term ..... unfortunately

Exactly it is clarion call Now that they buy themselves time. they just need to redouble the effort to be independent
And as to subsidizing industry every country does that watch this excellent video from deutsche welle

China hopes U.S. will meet it half way: MOC

China hopes the United States will meet it half way and promote balanced and coordinated development of economic and trade cooperation between both countries, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said Thursday.

Speaking about a statement issued by the Chinese economic and trade consultation team, MOC spokesperson Gao Feng said that the attitude of the Chinese side remains consistent and clear, that is, China does not want trade disputes between it and the United States to be escalated.

To implement the consensus reached in Washington, Chinese and U.S. economic and trade teams held candid and in-depth consultations in Beijing from June 2-3 and made positive and concrete progress in many areas.

According to the statement issued by the Chinese side, the economic and trade outcomes reached in the talks will not take effect if the United States imposes any trade sanctions including raising tariffs.

During the consultations last weekend, both parties held in-depth and concrete discussions on some specific trade cooperation areas, particularly agriculture and energy, Gao told a press briefing.

"China is willing to increase imports from the United States on the assumption that two parties meet each other half way," said Gao.

Reform and opening-up as well as expanding imports are China's established strategies. It is willing to increase imports from other countries, including the United States, to meet the people's ever-growing needs for a better life and the requirements of high-quality economic development, said Gao.

The Chinese market is growing and the China International Import Expo will be held this November, said the spokesperson, who also welcomed competitive products around the world to enter the Chinese market.

Gao said China will create an international business environment, provide more convenient, transparent, and predictable terms of trade to benefit world enterprises, including those from the United States.

Details of the consultations are yet to be confirmed by both sides, said Gao, noting that economic and trade cooperation between the two countries is always moving forward to achieve mutual benefits and win-win outcomes despite some twists and turns.

China is willing to expand cooperation and properly resolve differences through dialogue and consultations. It hopes the United States will make joint efforts with China to maintain the stable and healthy development of economic and trade ties between both countries, said Gao.

LA MALBAIE, Quebec (AP) — President Donald Trump threw the G-7 summit into disarray Saturday, tweeting that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is "dishonest & weak" and that the U.S. was pulling back its endorsement of the group's communique in part because of what he called Trudeau's "false statements" at a news conference.

In an extraordinary set of tweets aboard Air Force One, on its way to Singapore for next week's summit with North Korea's Kim Jong Un, Trump lashed out just as Canada released the G-7's official communique. Its statement took a generally positive view of the leaders' positions on trade matters while acknowledging tensions with the U.S.

A few hours earlier, Trudeau had told reporters that all seven leaders had come together to sign the joint declaration.

Trump tweeted: "Based on Justin's false statements at his news conference, and the fact that Canada is charging massive Tariffs to our U.S. farmers, workers and companies, I have instructed our U.S. Reps not to endorse the Communique as we look at Tariffs on automobiles flooding the U.S. Market!"

He followed up by tweeting: "PM Justin Trudeau of Canada acted so meek and mild during our @G7 meetings only to give a news conference after I left saying that, "US Tariffs were kind of insulting" and he "will not be pushed around." Very dishonest & weak. Our Tariffs are in response to his of 270% on dairy!"

In a statement, a spokesman for Trudeau did not address Trump's insults. "We are focused on everything we accomplished here at the #G7 summit," spokesman Cameron Ahmad said.

"The Prime Minister said nothing he hasn't said before — both in public, and in private conversations with the President."

As he exited the world summit, Trump had delivered a stark warning to America's trading partners not to counter his decision to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. But the summit host, Trudeau, whose nation was among those singled out by Trump, pushed back and said he would not hesitate to retaliate against his neighbor to the south.

Trudeau forceful response to Trump

Trudeau later said he reiterated to Trump that tariffs will harm industries and workers on both sides of the U.S.-Canada border. He said unleashing retaliatory measures "is not something I relish doing" but that he wouldn't hesitate to do so because "I will always protect Canadian workers and Canadian interests."

"As Canadians, we are polite, we're reasonable, but also we will not be pushed around," Trudeau said.

Despite the sharp differences, Trudeau said all seven leaders had come together to sign a joint declaration despite having "some strong, firm conversations on trade, and specifically on American tariffs."

Trump himself insisted relationships with allies were a "ten" just before he left the summit. But Trump's abbreviated stay at this Quebec resort saw him continuing the same type of tough talk on trade as when he departed the White House, when he accused Trudeau of being "indignant."

Let sing the Canadian anthem
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all of us command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!

Changan Ford Automobile Co., a joint venture between Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., and U.S. automaker Ford, has made a breakthrough in car exports.

A total of 752 units of Changan Ford's SUV model Ecosport has been shipped to the Philippines, the company's first whole-vehicle export, it said Sunday.

Changan Ford based in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality is Ford's largest production base outside the United Sates. The company has a production capacity of 1 million automobiles, 1 million gearboxes and 1.2 million engines. It sold 827,000 vehicles in China in 2017.

He Chaobing, executive vice-president of Changan Ford, said an upgraded model of Ford's flagship sedan Focus produced in Chongqing would be exported to North America next year.

With an automobile output of 2.99 million units last year, Chongqing topped China's auto production bases. Both traditional and new energy car makers based in the city have been exploring exports for sustaining growth.

introduced the concept of "soft power" in the late 1980s.

For Nye, power is the ability to influence the behavior of others to get the outcomes you want. There are several ways one can achieve this: you can coerce them with threats; you can induce them with payments; or you can attract and co-opt them to want what you want. This soft power – getting others to want the outcomes you want – co-opts people rather than coerces them.

It can be contrasted with '

', which is the use of coercion and payment. Soft power can be wielded not just by states but also by all actors in international politics, such as

or international institutions.

It is also considered the "second face of power" that indirectly allows you to obtain the outcomes you want. A country's soft power, according to Nye, rests on three resources: "its culture (in places where it is attractive to others), its political values (when it lives up to them at home and abroad), and its foreign policies (when others see them as legitimate and having moral authority)."
