I've made no such proclaimation, I do have a good handle on Mr. Trump, and unlike most politicians, he's made a valiant effort to keep his promise to the electorate, Donald Trump is a media Icon,,, he's always been direct and to the point!

President Xi isn't some mysterious unknown figure either, he has a record now, and contrary to your opinion, he's nobody's fool!
Brother (noticed your post) please leave this flamebaity thread; I now reported it, would be surprised if Mods let it stay

Your post is far more insulting to President Xi than it is to President Trump, it really is. President Trump has been very upfront about his issues with China, President Xi knows exactly what cards were on the table!

President Trump and President Xi likely have a very honest relationship,, and I'm sure President Trump respects president Xi, because he understands who he's dealing with....
Exactly. Im sure they can both see the issues beyond their personal relationships.

WALL STREET WARNS: Trump's trade policies could bring the US back to an economic horror from the 1970s

  • President Donald Trump is aggressively pursuing protectionist economic policies.
  • Tariffs, however, cause prices to rise and can stall growth.
  • Analysts are warning that 1970s-like stagflation could be ahead.

I love the captured economical analyst.

They can support ANY political interest with the required voodoo "proof" : D

If you go back to the 70s it is visible the trade deficit predated the stagflation.

So, it is safe to say that there is probable relationship between the stagflation AND the opening up the unlimited international trade : D

Now, Trump test this theory.

@tidalwave

Could you please stop starting new - and especially provocative - threads just for a single stupid report especially since that topic fits into the general "Trade war thread".

Most of all, it is a political provocative one and IMO not fitting SDF's standards.

Xi before he became the president , was referred by many as " Ah Doh" reference to three kingdom , Shu kingdom Lu Bei' son. at the timw, people thought him as plain and harmless.. Xi had a reputation before.
He will play along first but people wronged him, watch out.

Western media , frankly, have no idea of how Xi actually is.

I here provide some insights, otherwise you will have no other way of knowing.

U.S. escalating trade tensions could boomerang, warns Chinese state councilor

The U.S. unilateral move in dealing with trade frictions with other countries is against the historical trend, which will only boomerang on itself, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned on Thursday.

While the United States attempted to reduce imports from China by levying high tariffs on Chinese products, the move could in no way help resolve its trade imbalance as the country still needed to import products from other countries, Wang told a press conference after the China-ASEAN foreign ministers' meeting.

"We hope that trade policy-makers in the United States can calm down, carefully listen to the voices of U.S. consumers and businesses and hear the collective call of the international community," said the Chinese top diplomat.

"The U.S. method of exerting pressure will not have any effect, not now, and never will," he said.

As Chinese consumers' demands gradually increased, China also needed to import more and more products from around the world. It was understandable that U.S. enterprises would not want to lose the ever-expanding Chinese market, he said.

To resolve trade issues, China was willing to sit down and talk with any country, including the United States, on the basis of mutual respect and equal footing, Wang stressed.

China has just announced new 60 billion dollar tariff retaliation.

The key takeaway is that the tariff rates are going to differ, from 5% to 10% to 20% and 25% for different products (5207 products in total).

Date of implementation is "immediately after the US adopts new anti-China tariffs"

The new tariffs are, according to the Ministry of Commerce, intended to "stop escalation of trade dispute" and are calculated to "minimise impact on Chinese domestic economy".

The MOC also said that it "retains the right to introduce further future countermeasures"

A step in the right direction. Perhaps the other side will also show some good will after such a move. If it doesn't, China can always add further tariffs or other tools if it desires to fully retaliTe against the 200 billion tariff batch.
