What does countries like Italy, Spain, Brazil, have that Taiwan dont? I can only see they lack enough subs, pure militarily seen.
Let me see. Aircraft carriers for one, and also their air forces and armies are much better equipped than Taiwan's. In fact, yes, Taiwan has most of the military equipment that those countries have, but not all! However, those countries are simply better in most aspects. Therefore back to the original question: Top Ten Military Nation. I don't think Taiwan should be in front of those countries, never mind top ten.

Brazil might have an aircraft carrier, but apart from that its navy is not that impressive. It has no destroyers, and the best escorts it has are some rather old Type-22s we flogged them.

Its airforce is also not better than Taiwan's. It has a handful of Mirages and that's about it in terms of modern jets.

Again, with the Brazilian Army you can't really say it's better than the ROCA.

I protest that :nono:

Germany has 33.4% of it's workforce wich is 25% more in number then the british workforce, also british workforce in employed within industry at 25.6%

Also the british industrial growth is at 0% over the last 10 year's while +4% every year in Germany, thats why the german industrial output is slightly larger then France and Britain combined :coffee:

sorry i mean no offence, but although german's industry is capable, it is not as experienced as UK in warfare, that is why i said ahead of its contiental counterparts simply based on the usual experience, falkland etc and troop development oversea etc

I just wonder why people would think Taiwan is in the top 10. I mean surely countries like Italy, Spain, Brazil, Israel... should be above Taiwan.

Let's look air force, for example.

Taiwan has 330 F-16s, IDFs, and Mirage 2000s.

1) Brazil? Around 50 F-5 Tigers and a dozen Mirage 2000s. An F-XBR project on order.

2) Spain? Something like 20 Eurofighters (with more on the way,) and 90 F-18 Hornets.

3) Italy? 90 Tornados, 30 leased F-16s, and Eurofighters on order.

Taiwan could legitimately lay claim to a military superior to that of Italy or Spain's, etc. This could be an interesting debate, if one gets into technical details.

Yes this is a forum and altough we have strict rules of how to behave, the forum itself has no policy towards any sort of political or other ideological direction. This means that in this forum, no country, nation or other similary definited group enjoys any privilegs nor any is opressed and treated differently than others. Only selective policy is that as we are Chinese military forum so we expect the discussion issues be related to that. However we engourage our members to be objective and give them freedom to express their views as long as they are made in appropiate manners. The Members Club room and World Armed forces forum is dedicated for disccusion of the non-Chinese related matters.

Now in this particular case where some members makes a comment in which he suggest others not to treat Taiwan as a country is clearly against our policy. Taiwan is from all definitons a country, only its international recognition is somewhat hazy. But as thats is nothing else than politics which isn't the subject of this forum, I strongly suggest that this member and others as well leave such remarks to themselves...

I see what you mean. But I just feel that except Brazil the other two countries just have more independent military industries than Taiwan. And in a case of real war, I'm sure they would build up their military power much more than they have now. However, without the US Taiwan is much less capable than Spain and Italy. What's more, Taiwan just doesn't have enough financial backing for their military when compare to those European countries. I mean what it can do and have now is pretty much all it has. Unlike Spain and Italy, they can have more if they really want to. I hope that makes sense.
