Question, are those skid surface materials (square ones on the upper decks) the same as the one on the flight deck?

Yes and no..some of those non skid surfaces are applied like a stick on patch. Others are done the hard way.

NORFOLK, Va. (Dec. 17, 2015) A Sailor assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 34 is greeted by his wife and new born baby on the pier of aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). Washington arrives at Naval Station Norfolk as part of Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 9 following its forward deployment in Japan. Washington's arrival to Norfolk is part of a three-carrier swap with USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76) and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). After serving seven years as the U.S. Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier in Yokosuka, Japan, Washington proceeded to San Diego for a 10-day crew swap turnover with Ronald Reagan in August 2015. And very recently to Lemoore VFA-146 completely transition from F/A-18C on F/A-18E and next year VFA-94 and 113 from C on F and E last units in this base to use Hornet.
