The patrol of the Blue Angels fly on Super Hornet !

The US Navy has started a process to replace the aircraft demonstration team "Blue Angels" with a squadron of Boeing F/A-18E "Super Hornet".

Boeing will soon receive a contract for the development of necessary engineering plans to convert type car "Super Hornet" in a specific configuration to the role of patrol demonstration of the US Navy.

To reach the famous patrol, the "Super Hornet" be free of weapons as well as weapons rails. They will receive fuel pumps that can operate in reverse maneuvers, and an oil pump in the queue to emit smoke. In addition, a spring is added to the control handle for better handling smoke during inverted flights.

The Blue Angels :
The demonstration team of the US Navy was created in 1946 and was flying at the time of the Grumman F6F-on 5 "Hellcat". In 1949, it passes on jet aircraft, with the F9F-2 Grumman "Panther". One feature of this patrol is, even today, its pilots fly without G-suits on board and this particularly efficient aircraft. It was in 1987 that the "Blue Angels" leaving the "good old" Douglas A-4F "Skyhawk" to fly the F / A-18 A / B "Hornet". In 2010, the patrol received version C / D "Hornet", or second-hand equipment from the Navy.
