I heard from other info that Russia planned to do a Counter-Offensive in Kherson region, hence why they redeployed 30 BTGs to said area

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said on Thursday he would like to speak “directly” with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, as he urged Beijing to use its economic and political leverage to stop the conflict in his country.
In an exclusive interview with the South China Morning Post, Zelensky noted that he had not spoken to the Chinese leader since the start of Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine.
I would like to talk directly. I had one conversation with [President] Xi Jinping that was a year ago,” he said. “Since the beginning of the large-scale aggression on February 24, we have asked officially for a conversation, but we (haven’t had) any conversation with China even though I believe that would be helpful.”
According to Zelensky, Xi is one of a handful of world leaders who have been to Ukraine “at least once,” adding that the Chinese president warmly recalled his ties with Kiev during a call between the two leaders last year.

The vast majority would have already been gone long before the fighting started this year. It’s been 30 years since the union dissolved. Officers would remain but the vast majority of the Soviet Era troops are likely retired and very rusty. They wouldn’t be able to provide sufficient manpower or strength in the first place anyway.
Most of USSR-made officers were relieved after 2014 as they were mostly corrupt and inept (although after what happened in the south we can assume that there were bad apples). It's a new generation now, they've changed completely since 2014, built new organization and fresh officers are trained in the West now. There's not a lot of remnants of USSR in Ukrainian Army now, aside from the equipment of course. They could be called battle-hardened mix between East and West.

These are old photographs of 777 howitzer tractors destroyed in Lysychansk. Yes, this is another russian fake. And who is the clown here?

They are learning from Oryx and the Ukranians who count the same tanks multiple times.

I guess all the news about corruption that came out after 2014 were actually fake news?. I mean, even Zelensky himself showed up on Pandora Papers so I'll cast doubts on any claims of clean military leadership in Ukraine

On other news, Amnesty International points out Ukranians have been using civilians as human shields by turning civilian buildings, including hospitals and schools into military installations.

Should offer a nice contrasts to all the claims about Russians intentionally targeting Hospitals and Schools just for shits and giggles.

To begin with, the conditions between Ukraine and China are quite similar, and relations were always good in the past even after the illegal 2014 coup.

Both Ukraine and China face the security threat of separatists and could advise and cooperate with eachother. Unfortunately, Ukraine has gone way overboard and simply firing indiscriminately into separatist cities, rampantly collaborating with "nationalist legions" and NATO, which means that any similarity now has become twisted.

Were it the Ukraine before 2014, China could perhaps overtly support Ukrainian reunification and restrain Russia. But public attitude in China nowadays prohibit assistance to NATO in all forms.

Still, if Ukraine becomes de-puppetized, it isn't impossible that China could mediate peace talks with somewhat favorable terms to Ukraine, such as retaining access to the Black Sea.

Right now, it feels likely that China will start sending unofficial visitors to the LDPR.

I mean they've been posting videos showing they're doing this stuff since the start of the invasion.

I guess it's nice some ridiculous organization like Amnesty acknowledges it, because nobody else will ever say a word besides the Russians. Gotta give that full spectrum immunity to the poor democracy protector Elensky.

At least it prevents the usual suspects from wiggling out of it as "russian fake news", though they usually just ignore it until the news goes away and pretend it was never pointed out.

As you say, it happened with the pictures and videos of the ukranians setting howitzers in the middle of a school and residential area but people still feel the need to pontificate and pretend that didn't happen
