The War in the Ukraine

Maybe it’s not that Russian are using longer ranged glide bombs. Maybe Ukrainian long range AD has been degraded enough to allow them to get within glide bomb range now.

The Russians do have improved longer ranged glide bombs. There has been improvements on the UMPK that will allow just that. Then there's the UMPB which are not adapted FABs but aerodynamically streamlined glide bombs made from the ground up for this purpose. These also have a longer ranged. Then there's the Grom E1 which is an extended Kh-38ML missile or an UMPB with a rocket motor. All these weapons have been operationally deployed for some time now. But of course it can also be true that AD has been degraded enough for bombers to approach closer. All these possibilities can be true at the same time.

Footage of strikes by Russian missiles, presumably from a Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system, on temporary deployment sites of Ukrainian units located in the village of Huliaipole in the Zaporizhzhia region. The strike used precision-guided missiles equipped with a GLONASS satellite guidance system. Judging by the video, the Tornado-S missile strikes destroyed buildings.

The explosive impact of a Tornado-S rocket is the equivalent of a FAB-250. On top of that, the UMPB D-30SN has a ground launched version from a Tornado-S, and that glide bomb is also the equivalent of a FAB-250.

The crew of the T-80BVM tank of the "Center" group of troops destroyed a strongpoint and the live forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Krasnoarmeysky direction.

“We hit the enemy's strongpoint. There were several targets. The range was 11 kilometers. We used high-explosive fragmentation shells,” the tank commander said about the execution of the combat task.

According to Uralvagonzavod, 11 kilometers is a new record for the furthest a tank has hit a target.

Footage of a combined strike by Russian Geran-2 kamikaze drones and Grom missiles on the Ukrainian bridge in Zatoka, Odesa Oblast. The footage was captured by a local resident using a drone. It's worth noting that this isn't the first strike on this bridge. The bridge's lifting mechanism was also hit. The Russian Grom missile and bomb system was first used in 2023. The video has been edited down.
