Yeah the Russians changed the software and now Ukraine can't intercept the Iskander anymore. Not that they were particularly successful at it before.
I suspect the missile could always do that but the Russians probably were using simpler trajectories to keep NATO in the dark.

They have featured Gerans with optical glass noses before in defense expos. It's obvious this variant is meant for optical guidance. It's like a Lancet with a Geran body and warhead.
The video footages of Geran strikes on the air against ground targets are taken by other drones, especially by Gerbaras with optical cameras. This one is not only taken from the Geran itself, but it features a thermal camera.
Its also reported Geran-3s are already being used, based on wreckage the Ukrainians recovered. They have small jet engines instead of props which makes them harder to shoot by gun and making a SAM necessary. In expos there's also the variant that has both the optics nose and the jet engine. The drone is gradually turning into a missile.

I wonder how difficult it would be to mount an IR seeker head and guidance system on a Geran 3. If you could, you would have a very effective and cheap way to take down slow flying helicopters and propeller planes that tend to stalk Geran swarms
No need to take down the helicopters and the Yaks. Recently, Iskanders and Gerans wiped their air base.
The answer is that why take them out in the air when you can destroy their bases.
