The War in the Ukraine

You say this 3 years into the war?
I have said it multiple times ever since the begining and it is time to repeat again, this war is similar to Sino-Vietnamese border war/conflict that lasted for 12 years. At the time it was USSR supporting Vietnam as a proxy war against China from the south while USSR putting pressure from the north. China kept the fight for as long as it would took to press Vietnam from building a Warsaw pact in Asia. The war only finished after USSR collapsed and Vietnam lost any means to continue. History is shockingly repeating itself, last time it was USSR fought China through Vietnam, China got western market, US did not send weapons but only trade with China. Now China switches role with US, Russia switches role with China, Ukraine takes the role of Vietnam, US switches role to USSR.

Now we are only 3 years into the war, it is just the prelude. This war will only end when NATO gives up Ukraine (lost its credit), NATO/US collapse or Russia collapse. I'd say this war is the opening chapter of the ending of US/West dominace since the end of USSR.

I still find it funny how people are covering their ears with their hands and acting like the Sino Vietnam war lasted only like 3 weeks in 1979 and not like 10 years where there were battles like Laoshan in 1984. And China won pretty much all the stuff in the 80s.

Why is this? Is it because they so want to believe the underdog vietnam won coz they are the protagonist? Is it because they really don't want to believe evil China won in the end and did what the US failed to do? I noticed people have the same attitude towards the Finland Russia war where they act like Finland somehow won when it was on the losing side and had to give up a lot of land.

How on earth do people let their marvel like views shape history of stuff that isn't even that old?

Remember it's a publicly stated "3 weeks special military operation" to subdue all of Ukraine, disarm and "denazify" the country or whatever that even means. Lol
Also remember that this is a country that made most people believe it could take on the US and NATO and win.. Lol

You also have to remember that NATO-US-EU slapped hundreds then thousands of sanctions at Russia to make it by far the most sanctioned state in the world, which they planned will lead to economic collapse and color revolution. Fast forward, the Russian economy is firing on all four cylinders while the EU is gripped with recession and inflation, with German car manufacturers threatening to relocate to China.

Russia isn't as strong as some would think but it isn't as weak as others thought, and it has proven far more adaptable and resilient than what everyone thought.

I'm pretty surprised myself.

These two wars are not comparable.

The 10-year afterwards border conflict between Vietnam & China was limited on the border, which even became live military exercises for fresh university graduates in many later cases. It's not that intense at all. Also, China is free of sanctions, and its inner land is free of war influences. It's just a low-intense punishment to make sure Vietnam can't concentrate on its economy development, significantly delaying its modernization progress & potantial to compete with China. Only good no bad for China.

Meanwhile, the war between Russia & Ukraine made Russia suffer the most sanctions in the human history. Its inner land are attacked very often. Russia's military strength/hardware are significantly weakened & lost. The war detemined Russia's future path in this century. Even it successfully conquers entire Ukraine after several years, with tremendous hatre from increasingly militarized Europe, it'll never become a ture global power, only trapped in its local region, becoming a puppet of other global powers. Which is just other geopolitical actors willing to see, especially US & China. Russia wins some land, but loses everything else.

This is how a war determines a power's rise & fall. US rises with Gulf War. Russia falls after Ukraine War. I'm sure China don't want to act like Russia in future Taiwan War. So China is learning, acting & preparing very carefully.

This is stupid, US literally lost Afghanistan did that also determine its future in this century?

US is way more powerful & stronger than Russia. US could lose many wars, just to waste some money & time. US is ok after losing Afghanistan meanwhile USSR collapsed after doing the same. Should admit, strong countries/alliances have more flexibility, weaker ones have less. Also, Afghanistan isn't at US border, won't affect it too much.

For a country barely recovered from the collapse of USSR for several decades, it's a tragedy to get trapped in an endless intense war after some previous small ones. I'm sure Putin wouldn't start this war if he knew Russia's military was so vulnerable/weak, and the strong resistance he would get from Ukraine & NATO. Even after 3+ years, he almost gained nothing except for some lands.

No Russian leadership will decide to start this war if he can go back to Feb 2022. It's an unquestionable mistake for Russians.
