The War in the Ukraine

I don't understand the logic to this other than to prolong the war.

Basically ATACMS was provided in response to North Korean and Iranian BMs being supplied to Russia (ignoring the obvious nonsense about "warning Russia not to use long range missiles" because Iskander and all the other missiles Russia already used for a long time)

What's 100 missiles going to do? Russia has already used many more times that and Ukraine is still standing, so why would the calculus change on the other side?

ATACMS will probably work nicely against the supposed troops accumulations to open another front in Sumy/Kharkiv regions. But like you say it will prolong the war and be able to unlock more PR stunts...

Not troop accumulations but all airbases in Crimea, known s400's in Crimea and lets see if they go after the bridge again.

Any troop massing for Sumy/Kharkiv would be on Russian side of border which is a no-go for ATACMs for some weird reason.

Footage of the evacuation of the Russian Tsar tank T-72 from the battlefield in Ukraine. The Tsar Tank, also called the Tank-Grill, ran over a mine and stalled. The combat vehicle was attacked by Ukrainian FPV drones, but improvised protection minimized damage from the drones and the tank was not damaged. A combat vehicle was evacuated from the battlefield in the Krasnogorovka area by one of the Russian evacuation ARVs. It is worth noting that there are more and more tanks with such protection against drones, there are already several of them, at the moment this design most effectively protects against drones. They laugh at the design. But now there is no effective protection of tanks from drones. The Israeli army is now also installing canopies to protect tanks from drones

It would be kinda funny if this May Day parade it’s columns of captured NATO armour that roll through Red Squad while all the Russian armour is off at the front.

That would sort of be like the 1945 Victory Parade, where a bunch of German military flags and banners were carried and then thrown to the ground in front of Lenin's Tomb.

EDIT: This is a response to Supersnoop above post.

I believe the US goal is to prolong the war as long as possible.

If you look at the aid package, a lot of the money goes to US weapon production while a relatively small amount of the total goes to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan in that order.

So prolonging the war has two benefits to the US.

1) Russia continues to burn human, economic, and military capital in pursuit of its goals.

2) US missile and ammo production is getting a much needed capacity boost to production. The longer the war goes on, the more money can be invested into weapon production capacity increase which takes time.

Outside of those two goal, the US is committed to throwing a as big of a wrench into Russian foreign policy goals as possible.

From the US perspective, the Russian invasion of Ukraine is a major upending of post Cold War European / World Order which is a direct challenge to the US. On top of that, they don’t view it as a legitimate invasion for any way shape or form.
