Hmmm ... Actually that's the first time I've hear of of a Type 226 for the J-8 (but to admit I've never heard of any specific designation of the J-8's rangefinder) ... but then this would mean that there are two Type 226 rangefinders ???

Just a silly question again regarding the radar of the J-8 !
I know that the improved J-8I was equipped with the SR-4 (Type 204) radar but what was the original fit to the original J-8 (sans suffix) when it entered service ??? ... the same range-finder like the J-7-series ????

I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the Q-5 has a role to play in today's naval warfare. Are any of the Q-5 models capable of detecting and tracking naval targets and launching anti-ship missiles?
Thanks for the answer. Figured that might've been a stupid question!
A few days ago plane spotters at Chengdu saw a new batch of J-7Gs flying but.... who could they be for? Obviouly for export but I was under the impression that J-7 production had ceased completely?
