You spelt international wrong.

And you spelled "spelt" wrong!

Ironic when cheating is discussed and I remember all that controversy over the ages of players for years in the Little League World Series. There it was the reverse instead, olders boys playing illegally in the Little League World Series.

What country do you mean.....and whose cheating? You spelt international wrong.

I think you also spelled "whose" wrong, it should be "who's"

This thread seems to be about Liu Xiang's absent. Many rumors have said that Liu Xiang was out not because the wound on his leg. But the pressure on his mind. He is the only Asian guy who won a gold medal on the subject. People have raised him like a hero. So what if he lose this time? I have a question did he win his medal by luck? But he did break a world record.

Lol...my bad....at least we're all improving our spelling right?

There's too much pressure placed on him, China treats him as a national hero, he is on alot of the Olympic ads and Coca-Cola ads.

AssassinsMace, which country are you talking about?

Most people know that liu got too much preassure but i think his injuries are real. He back out not directly from pressure, but perhaps indirectly. He probably trained too hard and perhaps exceeded his body limit in the face of overwhelming pressure.

Atlheltic in olympic levels=serious injuries at least some point of your career.

This fact is often forgetted by media and larger audience. These claims that he didn't bare the preassure are just BS. Human body is just not made for the strain that constant training and competition in high level requires. Athletics knows and accept this and are willing to take the risk. Sadly the injuries may happen just prior the most important event of your career and that is what happened here. From what I've cathered is that Liu have had proplems trough out this season but didn't want to give up untill he was concretely forced to

...many would have not even come to the starting line but Liu showed quite devotion towards the chinese people by trying to the very last minutes even when he knew it most likely wouldn't succeed. Every chinese should feel proud of the guy and not blame him for ruin the games..

It's possible that he trained too hard, but as Golle says a lot of athletes just get injured through training and competing at all. If you want to have a shot of a medal, even the "basic" amount of work you have to put in might be more than a body can take.

If I'm thinking about what you're referring to, wasn't the kid that was caught from the Dominican Republic? I think he played for the Domincan team, not the US team if that is what you are trying to imply.

I have a question did he win his medal by luck?

Well, did he break the world record one year afterwards and win the World Championship in 2007 by luck also?

I think it is bogus to think that Liu Xiang would chicken out of the Olympics just because he couldn't handle the pressure. Most athletes would have bowed out much sooner if faced with an injury of that type.

Liu Xiang should be regarded a true hero for what he has accomplished- not only to the Chinese people for bringing them their first medal- but for all asians for showing that the asian race can indeed compete in track and field. In an event dominated by Africans and African Americans, Liu is the first person of non-african descent to run under 13 seconds. He is an inspiration and beacon of hope to aspiring young asian track and field athletes across the world.

Wrong country. And not the US either.

This way before when this country virtually won everytime. And it wasn't just one person. It was every year with several different players. Contrary to what's being accused of the Chinese gymnasts, they were bigger than the American players and brought suspicion because the stereotypes say they should be smaller than the Americans. It's quite simple to figure out if you know about who dominated the Little League World Series about a decade ago. Now you don't see them in the Little League World Series anymore because they say the heat was on. The mercy rule was introduced into the sport because of this country but now we know why they were able to outscore the American team by a wide margin everytime because they were cheating.

AssassinsMace is refering to the ROC..As a baseball fan I had my suspicions about the age of their team for several years. They have not won a Little Leauge World Series since 1996..

The ROC first won in 1969 then took the title in '69 then in;

71,72,73,74,77,78,79,80,81,86,87,88,90,91,95 & 96..Wow!

Like I stated since 1996.... Nuthin! No championships.. Ya' gotta wonder..
