Logic is flaws for two reasons. YJ-63 is an LACM. Higher range means less speed. Based on the looks of the missile, looks somewhat like a tomahawk, there is no way its supersonic. Supersonic missiles have 2 things, a shark coned head, a huge booster. YJ-63 lacks both. It says the missile is see skimming in its terminal phase which implies 280 KM is not its lo-lo profile.
30m still counts as lo profile. High profile is like travelling at an altiutude with no air resistance.

more on 054A, according to Kanwa, 054A is definitely getting equipped with HQ-16. The delay in construction of the third 054 boat is due to the fact that HQ-16 hasn't completed yet. HQ-16 might replace HQ-7 on 052 and 051B as the main Chinese short ranged SAM in the future.

hq-16? its based off of the shtill right? i know the russians had some kind of shtill project with china. when is the system going to be completed?
interesting. the plan might as well start building now, and then fit the hq-16 when its finished. no use waiting.

well, CDF had those 054A pictures last month, so it is definitely laid down. HQ-16 should be an upgrade over Shtil, although I also read conflicting report in the past that it is a super Tor-M1.

Are you thinking of the same photo that I'm thinking of? I'm talking about the one that is just laid down last month. 525 is just about to be commissioned.

yeah, HQ-7A is on 054.

As for YJ-62, it's getting put on 052C. Don't believe me? Check the new article by Aviation weekly on Chinese cruise missiles. It will be on 054A for sure.
Huh?
Yea, the 52C is being fitted w/ the new missile, but is there enough space onboard 54A to fit them?

I wonder what PLA is doing with the designations though.
The destroyers can't get a new number for a while since the next number, 53 is already taken.
And as for YJ-6, 62, 63, they are 3 completely different missiles!!!!
Given this, I am not going to put my bid on any names. Not now, only articles, no pictures, no formal specs.
