The future war is won through victory in space and cyberspace, without with there could not be mass movements of troops on the ground, because of the threat from cruise missiles and precision guided ammunition, as well as problems in command and control in case there is no electronic dominance. In this scenario, the army of the future will likely conduct more patrol and control of captured areas. Tanks, armoured vehicles, rangers, and Special Forces will be used for most of the ground-fighting, and even this is mostly against insurgents, who have very limited firepower. Therefore, it will be of benefit for soldiers to be trained in riot control and policing of population, and enabling them to provide civil services, such as electricity and running water, sanitation, emergency rations, medicine and field hospitals, in the effort to win hearts-and-minds.
