Sorry, phone auto corrected . Own the sky is what meant
It's more like owning the skies. They think they own the skies when they clearly do not. We do.
Ah ok, thanks. That makes more sense.

Yea their idea is to use it mainly as a fairly cost effective anti-radiation weapon. It sort of makes sense from the perspective in that they'll have little (or no) chance to use their air-launched AGM-88B. Problem for them is that they're behind the curve already before it's even put in service.

The presumption that they'd have intact launch sites / marshaling points available;

That they still maintain air superiority instead of losing air dominance to the PLAAF / PLANAF assets;

That they still have operational SAMs to deny the PLA an uninterrupted - and unmolested - UAV surveillance coverage of the entire theater of operation;

That they presume there be no active jamming or direct energy-based countermeasures be deployed against such...

In the end, it's more effective to simply launch a few Yun Feng LACM with VX gas payload towards Shanghai or Beijing, for Taiwan already has Yun Feng LACM and available chemical weapon stockpile.

I'm curious, what would the response be if they did do something so stupid? I can see the execution of all the high command and leaders once the war is over but I don't think we would do anything remotely similar to their cities.

VX gas man. If that happens, nuclear response to try end the war as quickly as possible.

What, you wanna do conventional retaliation and then risk have more vx payload heading towards other coastal cities while the war drags on.

no, china wants to be able to use the land afterwards.
and china does not need nuclear weapons to beat taiwan quickly.
plus, the use of such weapons makes the government on taiwan indefensible in international forums like the UN thus making things far easier for beijing politically.

taiwanese leaders are 100% dead after the war though if they didnt die during it.

I find the photo of him holding up his pledge to be a bit too convenient, but on the other hand I also think PRC moles in ROC is likely to be quite common so it's possible.
I'd find it laughable to even entertain such.

And the easiest way to find out, is to launch a few VX-tipped Yun Feng LACM from Taipei towards Beijing - the ensuing development will force all them lot to commit for real.

And the proper way to utilize any mole / hidden agent in Taiwan, is to have them steal those Yun Feng LACM and VX gas warhead, pair them together, make the said launch. 10 bucks say for the first 72 hours, Taiwanese will be too busy cheering for the attack and the casualties such attack produced, without realizing what really happened; and by the time they got sober enough, they may just in time hear the news that PRC declared full-scale military response.

The ensuing chaos and direct actions will ensure no future fact-finding possible. You may say it'd be a perfect crime.

Investigation shows incident likely to be caused by human error, crew did not deploy the landing gear into correct position due to nervousness, the two pilots are still under investigation and stripped of their wings.
