This reminds me of the video several posts back of a street interview in Taiwan where some girls eagerly said they would surrender to the PLA. I wonder if this is deliberate...

Interestingly, the lower part of this chart shows the enrollment situation for Taiwan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force academies, and it’s fair to say that almost all of them are falling short of their recruitment targets. This is understandable—after all, attending the National Defense University (Republic of China) can lead to relatively safer positions, whereas enrolling in the three military academies likely means facing actual combat. This chart aligns closely with my stereotypical impression of Taiwanese people.

A Navy floating dock, "Zuoying No. 6," unexpectedly sank today (29th) in the Zuoying Naval Base during a ballast test. Both the port and starboard flotation tanks took on water simultaneously. Despite rescue efforts, the dock sank within four hours. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Senior naval personnel confirmed the incident and stated that repairs will be carried out after the situation is further assessed.
The Zuoying No. 6 floating dock has a history of 70 years and previously participated in the maintenance of warships during the 921 Naval Battle and the Kinmen Artillery Battle. It has long been a key facility in the Navy’s logistics and maintenance system, playing an important role in maintaining fleet readiness. The dock is capable of servicing various types of vessels under 3,000 tons.

Thunder Tiger Technology will participate next month in the "Domestic and International Surface Unmanned Vehicle Demonstration Event" organized by the National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology. However, one of its unmanned boats recently went missing during a stealth functionality test at sea. The company even offered a NT$200,000 reward in hopes that fishermen could help locate it. Today, the Coast Guard Administration issued a statement saying that an unmanned vessel has been found and confirmed to be the one belonging to Thunder Tiger Technology Co., Ltd., which went missing on May 27 during a sea test 30 nautical miles east of Heping, Hualien.
