It’s fine ,guys, we are not getting real information from both sides anyway, if you want the latest “BREAKING ” news, just use Twitter, otherwise somebody’s family would be cursed very soon
But I do think a thread with absolutely no discussion but news posted by both sides would be of great value, as a monument of this very special period of history

I disagree with the no Twitter part for this conflict. Like it or not, Twitter became a valuable source of information that allows us to see past narratives constructed by certain entities that have a stake in this conflict. A LOT of info and news is being uploaded to that site, and misinformation, incomplete facts, and absolute facts are all in one pile. Since this forum have many users here posting tweets in that thread, we got a diverse group of information from both sides, and the rest of us help differentiate between what’s real and what’s fake and start constructing an outline of the conflict despite our personal opinions. In my opinion, we did a pretty job at that, but some people start to forget what thread they are in and immediately get off topic. That can be solved via moderation.

For the thread of pure news, that would be possible but based on my experience in this forum, people post news FOR discussion, not because they are news scraping bots. The reality is we aren’t here just for news. We are here to learn and understand what is going on and analyze the information we got. That’s why the “Breaking News” thread ultimately became a major discussion thread.

Finally, we are getting way off topic. If you would like to propose and argue for a change like that, please do so in a seperate thread and the discussion can happen there.
@Deino If you don’t mind, can you please lock this thread?

That’s going off topic a bit lol, and that’s the type of stuff that caused the Ukrainian Conflict thread to get shut down.
It is off topic and not relevant and shouldn't be posted in this thread.

But what got the Ukrainian thread into trouble is trolling. Bait and switch argument to derail the thread.

Understandably, moderation is a thankless job. But nobody is doing anything about it. It has happened so many times and would continue to happen.

SDF always has the aspiration to be a professional military forum. But It has been stuck at being professional and amateur at the same time for so many years.

Maybe it's time for SDF to accept the fact that it can't just want to drive traffic and keep it as professional at the same time.
